John Hopkins University - good school? engineering?

I got letter in mail today from John Hopkins University saying they were "impressed" by my AP exams from last year (a 4 in BC Calculus), you know the sort of letter I'm talking about I'm sure.

Well is John Hopkins a good school, specifically for engineering/comp sci/mathematics? Looks like a good school, and I've at least heard of it. How would it compare to a place like MIT? The letter says that their school is a place for people earnestly interested in just increasing their knowledge - and thats the type of person I am.

    Well thanks for any input!

If you're looking for information then there are probably hundreds of web sites out there with all sorts of goodies. Why would you expect anybody here to know anything about it? Just hoping for the random chance that someone went there?

JHU is pretty good. It is better than most, and only worse than a few (i.e. the ones that only the worlds geniuses get into: MIT, CIT, ect.).

or maybe there are people on this board who have come across info about it while researching colleges for themselves, or may know someone who went there, or even went there themselves. Searching for the sort of info I'm looking for on Google won't bring in much info - some statistics about the college and maybe a few isolated "JHU is cool!" type comments. I think its perfectly reasonable for me to ask on this message board, a programming board, how JHU might be for this particular field. Just because someone hasnt' gone to a school doesn't mean they havn't heard through the grapevine of the quality of a school.

    yea, anyways, thanks.

I think it is "Johns" with an "s" isn't it? If that is the place you are talking about, then I can't comment on their engineering faculties, but their medical school is among the best on the planet.
