    sure but you cant release any applications for profit on that...
    eg: you can make stuff but if you try to sell the stuff you make your breaking the law

    I'm proably not going to be selling anything anytime soon. I am a newbie. I started reading this book, but I stopped when I started this class. Probably start reading it during break.

    I would use Visual Studio .net. -VB, C++ and C# together.

    well, probably because you are getting such a discount, you have some restrictions. On the page, it didn't say anything about restrictions, but it said taht only students and teachers and education related jobs get the discount. If that is the case, doesn't matter because I won't be making applications I could sell for a while.

    *busts out official VC++ license*

    According to this; I am allowed to distribute any software I write, including software that uses any of the VC libraries/MFC/ATL/etc... as long as it is non-profit, and not included in any profitable software. I am not allowed to sell or lisence source code.

    There are about fifty or so exceptions here, the thing is written in "lawyer language" so I'm not going to pick it apart.

    Just don't sell anything and you'll be good

    This is from the lisence for VC++.NET Standard BTW.

    Use the pro or enterprise edition. Either that or develop in-house stuff that won't get sold.

    It's probably atyour local computer store. Wait - your grandfather can get you a $10K MS program, but he can't get you MSVC++?

    I had the impression that when you work for a company you use their software to make products. Maybe I am wrong. And why am I looking at a flashing banner that says "STEROIDS, CLICK HERE TO BUY NOW"?
