Yeah he looks like a geek but who cares? And i dont know about hating microsoft, show me something that says so. But hes a genious, no college degree and hes the mand behing doom, doom II, the soon to be doom III, quake, quake II, quake III, castle wolfenstein, not to mention being a member of the openGL arb board.

Out of interest, how do you know of him?
I have a book he wrote on TASM years ago that's now out of print.
Its a pretty good book.
I used to walk by the river and the birds were singing praises of The Swan. With all the lame ducks around here I'm surprised that he isn't more popular.

I personally like Scott Meyers. Thats one guy who knows c++ exceptionally well.

I bought Effective C++ a while back after seeing it listed quite often in references and bibligraphies........Also after seeing this
My only gripe was that it seemed a little expensive for the size of the book....but on reading the book, I now feel it was worth itI thoroughly recommend this book. It would be nice to see some of our training establishments adopt it as an end of course gift to those who have successfully completed in introduction to C++ for C programmers. The cost could easily be absorbed into most course fees and students would go away with some practical reading to improve their use of C++.
