You guys should make sure that theres a link or something on the main page saying something like join team cprogramming or something so more people see it than just the people on the board.

Yea thats not a bad idea, you could always make a script to prompt a user when registering if they would also like to join the team and send them to an informational page.

    jus a thought.

What exactly is the point of it? Also, what would the team be about?

seti = search for extra terestrial life @ home, the project uses the archibo radio telescope to record sound from deep space and then there database breaks it down into work units that your end user client downloads and processes, if your computer finds life then your name will be included in the discovery. The team is just a way to organize groups of people from similar clubs/schools/organizations..... The benefits are for the advancement of human knowledge.

xds4ls gave the basic point, but let me elaborate. They have the telescope time to search for signals that might be extraterrestrials, however they don't have the computing time to process all of their signals. Therefore users all over the world download 341k chunks of the data and proccess it and then return the results. It runs in the background of your computer, or when you are not using your machine. To give you an idea of how behind they are, the unit I'm proccessing now is from 1999.

The point of the team would be for fun, and to pool our efforts. Our computer time would be pooled togeagher and we would be named as a group, and individually, to any discovery. It's for fun .

Count me in, but, i already know that the US Government has already made agreements with aliens which were made in 1947 just after the roswell crash. Soon they are going to stage a fake landing so they can control the flow of information on aliens.

Well, how often is this 341k chunk downloaded, because I have a crappy 56k? I take it it's not even going to be worth my time to use it since I'm using a 56k; onsidering that very little time wil actually be dedicated towards processing the information with not being able to be online constantly.

depending on how fast your computer is depends on how long it takes to process the 341k. My xp1800+ takes just around 5hrs a unit. Im on DSL so it takes like a few secs to download a uniot or upload the results. When i was on 56k it wasnt that bad, plus its worth it finding aliens

Heres a link to the download page: http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.html and to the total statistics: http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/totals.html if you download it before it downloads a unit it well help you register.

If you send your completed units to "Team CProg" for example, do they still count against the correct country, or do they go to the country that is "host" to "Team CProg"?

    BTW - Go Team Danmark!
