    >>Think futher than the present and vote for the good of the planet not the good of your local area or personal agendas.<<

Yeah but when you have (like here in Australia) the two major parties with practically the same policies, and other parties are in complete shambles (like the ADP), you vote really makes f**k all difference to employ any kind of serious change. Too often you end up with the case of voting for the devil you know.

Politics is about making the choice that annoys the least people (and only voters are people, even voters are much less important than campaign fund donors).

Most of the time the group of people who will be annoyed / disadvantaged equates to the people with the least cash (even if they are in a different country).

If the last US election had been held in Australia it would have been decided by about 25 votes.

The opposite is to be like Italy, with a multitude of small parties, where they have had a new government almost every year.

I think Pauline Hanson asked all the hard questions but had no viable answers.
She did have one good idea, to set preferences against sitting members. This scared the pollies so much they had her run out of politics. (Australia is a preferential system rather than a 'past the post' as is the US)

I worry that the US government underestimates the anti-US feeling in much of the non-Western world.

I get the feeling that if we invade Iraq, they won't be able to ignore that much longer...

Australia has been sending SAS troops and equipment to Kuwait for the last five months.

There is going to be a war against Iraq, it is just a matter of when.

The US will wait for more unilateral support as it needs the rest of us to pay for the war. (the last Gulf war the US paid less than 5% of the cost)

Unless there is a US election....

It's funny how liberals are trying to rip Bush's throat out over the new security measures. They're not really anything new. Except now the FBI can take over the work from the FDA. They really need a break. Waco must have tired them out. And the new capabilities are standard in the IRS' book. But anyways, everyone loves Lincoln and Franky Roosevelt, but they contributed more to the destruction of the Constitution than anyone, except maybe Clinton. Oh well
where have you been for the last year? sure, roving wiretaps may make sense, but some other ideas, like secret trials, are damaging to the ideals we hold dear.

Well, we all know that Bush hasn't made any decisions on any topic whatsoever (he just follows his advisors), so as long as he isn't actually doing the thinking; we might just be OK.
