    Photoshop question

Does anyone know where to find any good Adobe Photoshop tutorials? Its driving me mad not knowing how to use it, and it doesn't have cool lessons like Flash does
Couldn't think of anything interesting, cool or funny - sorry.

    On the web - no.

But Adobe has many great books published on Photoshop. They show you everything you can do with it and more. I highly recommend them.

Yes, but it really depends on what you want. For such things as special effects (much like my neat little crystal ball) and web graphics, here are a few of my favorite links:

    http://www.phong.com/

Considering I've never used it before, I need tutorials that explain the interface, how to use layers, and a few simple effects such as gradients. Might be that a book is the way to go though....

Sometimes not. I learned Photoshop because I wanted to create interfaces for my web designs. Interfaces are often detailed enough to give you a good feel for the program and from there you should have little trouble figuring other things out. Photoshop is a collection of simple tools which one can combine creatively to make something spectacular. Don't be intimidated by how many options there are, just play with them.

Prelude, those sites are wicked... especially that phong one... any idea what they use to script some of that stuff? PHP? Javascript?

Phong's site is implemented mostly in Flash.

Hello, I'm a regular in photoshop.

The best site I've seen with photoshop tutorials is phong.com (like mentioned above).

    I also like teamphotoshop.com

But... The best of [anything] (it's a book though) is "Photoshop (6.0, 7.0) down and dirty tricks"(the book, but they also have it on videos, I recommend the book though). If you want that, just look for it on Amazon.com or ebay. It is by far the best set of tutorials on photoshop ever!

http://www.deaddreamer.com - The tutorials aren't that great... but his/her work is the best i've ever seen.

I used to be into photoshop quite a bit before I got into programming... I have "Teach yourself Photoshop 5.5 in 24 hours" although it really sucks. I had a huge amount of links before my HD crashes... I remember there was a really nice site with a huge database of photoshop/3dsmax tutorials...
I wonder if I can find it again

These sites are all great and look fantastic but they all seem to focus too much on the special effects you can achieve. I really somewhere which shows me how to use things effectively, without wondering why things never work. C++ is easier to learn than photoshop!!

That photoshopcafe site looks very useful, I could be building an award-winning website any day now

I'm not sure of any good tutorials for absolute beginners. Phong is really good for lots of stuff, but you'll be hard-pressed to find anything that teaches you from the start.

Photoshop is one of those programs you really don't want as Warez (which I'm sure you have) because it's very difficult to start learning it. I scanned through a HUGE manual, and got very little from it. The way I learned was through teaching. I used photoshop for about 6 months professionaly, and have had it at home for about a year now. The best way to learn is to have somebody show you the basics.

I personally learned all of the basic of photoshop from phong.com

I can't really see any easier way of learning than actually going through the steps one by one.

It's not like learning a programming language, you can just follow lesson organized tutorials, and make some cool stuff in photoshop. Other than a few basics like flattening images, there's nothing you really need to know- to really get into photoshop.
