    Automotive enthusits!

I was just wondering if their was any other car enthuists here. I use my cars as a getaway from the computer. It's just as satisfying as programing, I get to take something apart and build it from the ground up...debugging why it stalls on partial throtal or whatever... Just wondering...I also frequent many Mustang boards, a Honda SI board (no-rice), and ocassionaly an LS1 board... If you want to see my current rides and/or projects check out my website...oh and don't make fun of me for how crappy it is...I've been working on it for a couple of months now whenever I get a chance....

Yep. I am really big into cars also, mustangs to be specific. I've owned the following mustangs:

    1989 Mutang LX Coupe 5.0
1991 Mustang LX Coupe 5.0 ( Florida Highway Patrol )
    1996 Mustang GT

I liked my 89 the best out of all of them. Now that I go to school up in Seattle I had to sell my most recent (96) and buy something more "economical". So now I drive a 96 Honda Accord. It's ok, but I'm buying another mustang as soon as I get out of school. I agree troubleshooting problems with car is pretty fun, especially when you do the repairs yourself and you save lots of money! Upgrading is very rewarding also.

Well, I suppose I fall in this category too

I've owned 2 accords, my first was a 1987 hatchback, and I sold it with just a hair over 200,000 miles. I still see it driving around today

Currently I have a 2001 accord coupe LX. I don't like the typical "rice" cars, so no body mods, so far just performance stuff. And no, that does not mean a straight through muffler with a 5 inch tip It's very quite and docile on the highway, which is what I want, because I drive about 30,000 miles a year.

I've been into cars for a very long time, probably before I even got my lisence. Been messing with cars far longer than I've been programming.

I just got back from a national car show...I got a bunch of awesom ideas to modify my 86 stang.

For starters I saw a 54 GMC pick-up, the fenders and hood opened like a corvet rotating forward, however the hood (which is connected to the fenders) opened normally (all with hydroy pumps). Because my fenders are made out of tinfoil I can't support the weight of a hood with them, but my hood connects to the firewall so I'm going to modify the fenders and bumper (making them one piece) and able to clear the hood, then have them rotate forward while the hood will open normally (i'm using a fiberglass hood so I'm going to use hoodpins).

As well, their's basicially no backseat in a mustang so it will be converted to look like that of a corvett, with the seats flush with the back. The box will be covered in leather with the stero deck between the seats (dash will house gadges).

I'll install 2000 Mustang Interior (which is a direct bolt-in).

I've already rewired most of the car for buttons and switches (no keys and nothing stock)

The trunk will open on the passenger's side longways. And mounted on the trunk lid will be a 40 lb bottlle of n2o.

After I get the 351W in I'll convert it to EFI and use a tweaker kit to monitor my engine's readings as well as modifiying the computer. I'll have the laptop slide out of the glove box and streatch over to the driver's side. I want it in the glove box so I can have a passenger in there without any problems...

All I need to do is win the lottery and then start modifying...sounds simple enough...if I can get off my duff and buy a ticket...

I'm not a car enthousiast in the way that I'm building or restaurating them myself, but I mainly use them. Touring through the world is great, especially driving though the mountains is one of my favourites. A nice view and nice small steep roads.

For job I'm working at the department of my company which develops software to be used in cars, like car-navigation and infotainment systems.
