    Why oh why

Why is it that BT have their heads where the sun doesnt shine, and the local cable company is beyond belief?

Bt have not broadband enabled my local exchange...Yet I live in a CITY. Remote parts of the UK have been done already.....

Now, BT say its because of the high number of internet users within big towns/cities, that they will have to do surveys of users first etc. What the hell does this mean? Probably that they dont want to risk losing any business or something..

Local cable firm has 'no plans' to start digging up roads where I live for the 'forseeable future' ..Nice

Weird thing is, I live in a very affluent area-which is 20 yards (via a path) to a currently active cable area...If they sorted my locality out I am sure ppl would sign up..

So....I want fast access at home, not just at UNI.

Broadband Britain is the goal....yeh right

Aussie Telecom (Telstra) has enabled my exchange, but extended its capacity with a RIM. All it needs is an add on and I could get xDSL.

Till then I am on 56K. No cable (never plan to extend), ISDN is too expensive (as charged per minute + data volume) and two way satallite has too much lag for my work.

So its 'a long time if ever' for broadband.

I live within 10Km of the CBD of a CAPITAL CITY!

    Talking

I'm quite happy with my 3mbps downstream/1.5mbps upstream cable internet.
Naturally I didn't feel inspired enough to read all the links for you, since I already slaved away for long hours under a blistering sun pressing the search button after typing four whole words! - Quzah

3mbps/1.5mbps!?!? Wow - is all cable that fast?

I ask because I think my family's getting cable pretty soon, and we've been looking at stuff about it...
