Thread: Rant: Similar usernames

I was over on the C++ board and a new user has made their name Stealth! How ****ed up is that. Obviously you can tell the difference between my un, what with the [] around my name, but I'm still annoyed.

So that means a use could, hypothetically call themselves any of the following, based upon current un's:

WitchKing, Witch King.
Govt Cheez, Govt_Cheez.
double anti, double_anti.
rickbarclay, rick_barclay.

What is the point of having rules for usernames if such simple changes can be made, and usernames being doubled up?

It wasn't deliberate, but it defeats the purpose of having usernames. I might create a new account - [&] - The user formerly known as [stealth].

At least guests on this board can't just use the same name as a current member... I had that happen to me at least once on UB.

I can just see it: someone named KEN or Ken or _KEN_ makeing even more obnoxious and immature posts.
