    interactionism

apparently there is some sort of interaction, causality between the mind and the body. i tend to observe that it's apparently both-way, and as such i reject ephiphenomenalism. but if there is a bridge, it can't be reached by reaching an increased understanding of the body or the mind, considering you would apparently localize it, but both are nonetheless two seperate, coexisting realities. i really don't want to be a monist, but doesn't the fact that we define mind and body as seperate, that there, by definition, _can't_ be a common link? and i also would think that if one existed, that it would not be found, as i said, by localising it solely in the mind or body.

I agree, don't become a Mormon. What you have to do instead is learn more about the human genome and stuff like that. Then you will know what the hell you are talking about.

You have less choice in this matter than you think. If you don't maintain the physical routines of life than you become unhealthy. When you reach an end in your mental search than the physical reality becomes intrinsically motivated.

well of course i'm going to take the placebo of maintanence of mental and physical status for the purpose of continuing, i didn't mean that i was thinking of not, of course not... but wouldn't you still figure that if a gap existed that it would trancend both physical and mental?

We don't know enough about our physical and mental implementations at this time, but in order to find acceptance in a theory, especially one that can be demonstrated, than I think that scientific analysis is necessary. The technology used to support research also needs to evolve, and social systems such as the government would have to allocate funding. This is being done however I believe that most of the work being supported is related to medicine and the curing of disease. I'm sure that you can find many philosophical texts that deal with possiblilities. A good place to start might be aristotles metaphysics, utilitarianism, and the ontological argument. One interesting question to ask is whether the truth is independent of humans or else whether the truth is contained within humans. A theory is only so good as your ability to support your point of view, and on these subjects, that is all we have. It might not be so bad because knowing everything could introduce more complex problems and lead some individuals to abuse the knowledge for economic gain. I do not know too much about these issues myself but to say the least they are important in the development of a rounded education. Remember though, we live in a society of individuals who are highly interdependant. Most of what we think and believe is preceded by the need for cooperative living, and philosophy is mostly an individual search.
