    >>Also remember that taking steroids will only make you stronger, this is not gonna make you hit a ball

And throw it futher / faster. A friend of mine, Mark Ettles played for the Padres (I think only AA, the one below major league) as a pitcher. He did some weights to increase power and lots of speed training.

Steroids also dramatically reduce soft tissue injury recovery time.

Other enhancements include EOP, increased oxygen capacity in the blood (for stamina).

But lookig at Sammy now and looking at Sammy four years ago shows that it's very possible he took steroids at one point or another for some time. It's possible he hit the weights incredibly hard, but it's even more likely that he took steroids. The guys that I have in my head who seem like great hitters and that's why they're getting the homers may have taken steroids as well but from appearance it doesn't look like they have. The players I'm thinking of are ARod, Helton, and Griffey (hey he used to be the best). They don't seem exceptionally large, and they also look about the same as they did at the beginning of their careers. All in all, though, it's only speculation but warranted speculation.

Maybe that guy played back in the "day", because it's gotta be impossible to have "natural" arms like some of those guys nowadays. Trevor Hoffman for starters. I know I heard before that some pitchers use those squeezing balls (sorry I don't know what they're called and I don't mean anything perverted either) to strengthen their arms.

It's not only the logistics of baseball that bother me (i.e. the excessive pay, lockouts, etc...), but the games are quite boring too. I've really tried to become a fan of baseball, especially since we (arizona) finally got a franchise (Dbacks). I used to watch a lot of baseball when I was younger (Mariners fan), but I don't watch as much as I used to. In fact I've barely watched any games this year. Maybe once everything gets straightened out in baseball I'll watch more. Then again that's not going to happen until George Steinbrenner gets assasinated. This guy is never going to agree to a collective bargaining agreement, and that's what baseball needs.

So much wrong here ( wrong in my opinion) that I am really considering if it's worth replying..........

Exactly they're not freaking big........remember steroids will not make hit have better eyesight for a ball it will just make you have more power!!!!!! They're not big can't they just be good hitters? They're not even big. What makes you think they're taking steroids? They're not big. If they look the same as when they started and are great hitters what makes you think they're taking steroids now? Look at Roger Marris and Hank Aaron they had so many homeruns and they weren't taking steroids I would think. Remember athtles have better conditioning now. I admit there are Baseball players taking steroids. but some of the names you're throwing around it's just crazy. So you think that Babe Ruth took steroids? God Lord.

Exactly they used balls but they don't drop down and do 50 pushups everyday and lift 300 pounds on a set of 40. That was not the point that I was trying to make. I meant that steroids kills the pitchers arm. HEHEHE I know it's not perverted

Ok I'll say it again if a pitcher uses steroids it will kill their arm. It has something to do with the way steroids work.........oh and AAA is the step just below Major League.

Then don't reply if you are so consumed by your opinion that you find it to difficult to accept anothers opinion.

Ok the players that I feel people could make a strong case for taking steroids are: Samm, Gonzo, and Barry. The players that hit quite a few homers as well, but I happen to think that they don't appear to be taking steroids are: Helton, ARod, and Griffey. That's not to say that any of them have taken steroids or that none of them have taken steroids. However, there are certain players who people can make strong cases for having taken steroids. What's so hard to understand about that?

They use balls for conditioning, yes, but I'm, also, willing to be that they use weights as well. Maybe not as frequently during the season (if it at all during the season), but, again, it seems extremely unlikely that these guys aren't at least lifting weights in the off season.

A few rotten apple ruin it for all.
    What are you talking about?

Well is that your opinion on Arod and Griffey didn't really make sense......I thought you meant that they were indeed using steroids..........

Rotten Apples I am referring to Jose Canseco and this other guy who admitted using steroids....Now a whole bunch of people think that about 75% Baseball players use steroids.

I'd be really surpried if they were using steroids and a little dissapointed at the same time if I found out they were using steroids. Griffey was the best of the 90s and ARod is (and going to be) the best of the 00s, IMO. Why is that? Well, like you put it, they are pure, great hitters. Not to mention a few other attributes account to their greatness, as well.

I don't think it's nearly that many players who are using steroids. I'd say for sure, though, that it is in the double digits. IMO, that's far too many. Besides Canseco and Camminiti are bitter anyways, especially Canseco.

TechWins: Don't forget to put McGwire in your list - 10 years ago, he was a scrawny kid playing for the A's

I hope the MLB does strike, and I hope it cancels the rest of the season. Then, when the fans don't come back in April, maybe Selig'll get his **** together. Better yet, maybe some new commisioner will get his **** together.

Never mind that, I wanna see the fans go and strike........not go to any games for at least 2 weeks, see how that sits in with the Commish.......God I hate him......I wish he would be replaced.

I thought McGwire admitted to taking some form of steroids or a supplement a few years back. I'm pretty sure he admitted to taking something a few years ago.

Oh and one team is in danger of making payroll for this coming Monday. Hmmmm could that be the Devil Rays? What a great team that is. Not to mention that the Marlins traded away Cliff Floyd to the Expos today. Isn't it such a coincidence how the Marlins' owner is/was thinking about selling away the Marlins and taking over the Expos?

uhm...Bud Selig is not the reason mlb baseball is going down the toliet...yeah he made a moronic call at the all-star game (actually in all fairness there was nothing he could really do withing the rules of the game...Torre and Brenly screwed it up), but he's not the reason for the current labor crisis. Yeah the owners including selig can be greedy, but at least he can't carry all of the blame. The players are the one's who are going to strike because they don't want a more aggressive revenue sharing plan because it will slow salary growth, which is already way ahead of the the other major sports. They don't think they make enough money already....freaking cry me a river...jerks...

Although I didn't want Floyd to be traded (I am a Marlins fan) I just read the article and saw some of the numbers of the players the Marlins are getting and it's a pretty good deal for the Marlins...........I am actually not angry as I had expected.

    >> If if you're referring to the fact that 85% of players use steroids.....this is false, this is not possible. I'll tell you why 45% of Major League Players are pitchers......

When I said that 85% of players use enhancements, I didnt mean only steroids, I mean other supplements like creatin and amino acids, as Bonds claims to using.
