    And, if you are bored...

Being honest, i dont know the answer to the question about 1,2 etc....I do know these answers.

    How did you do?

A wise man bequeathed 17 camels to his three sons,
stipulating that the eldest receive a half, the middle
one a third and the youngest a ninth. Luckily, a
passer-by had heard this old chestnut, and so lent his
camel while they made the division. They now had 18 so
the eldest received nine camels, the middle son six and
the youngest two. This came to 17, so they were then
able to return the camel they had borrowed.

Had the will been carried out, and why?

    NEXT...........

OK - here's a really easy one to start you off for the
    new semester.

Backup tapes for a company are kept securely locked in a
safe. The combination is a 14-digit number comprising
two 7s separated by seven digits, two 6s separated by
six digits, two 5s separated by five digits and so on,
all the way down to a pair of 1s with a single digit
between. Complete the number, given that it does not end
    in 1. 536***********

    NEXT...

Example: Twelve cricketers are standing in a circle. One
is holding a ball. The one with the ball throws it to
the person 3 away to his left (i.e. passing 2 people).
The catcher does the same and so on. Work out - Does
every cricketer catch the ball? If the step length was
different (say 4 instead of 3) would all the cricketers
    touch the ball?

Question to be answered: What is the principle that
would allow you to predict for any size of circle and
any step length whether all the cricketers would touch
    the ball?

    NEXT.

When Dawn got on a tram at Manchester Picadilly she
noticed, as you do, that the tramcar's four-digit number
was equal to 2/3 of the number you obtained if you
reversed the order of its digits. What was the tram's
    number?
    Such is life.

Tram question - 6534 2/3 of 6534 is 4356 which when reversed is
    6534.

    Backup Tapes - 53672352461714

The will - The will was not carried out. Despite the fact that
the total inherited came to 17. The eldest boy did not
get half the camels, he got half of 18 camels = 9. The
others did not recieve 3rd and 9th of 17, they recieved
3rd and 9th of 17+1 respectfully. In reality the eldest
recieve 9/17, and the others 6/17 and 2/17.

Are some of these right? Can't be sure, could you tell us. Ta Fountain

Well, for the first one, each of them got at least as much as the old man wanted, so the will was done. This is because they got at least 1/2, 1/3 and 1/9 of 18, which is even bigger then 1/2, 1/3 and 1/9 of 17.
This is my signature. Remind me to change it.

For the cricket one, I'd guess that any step size that wasnt a factor would work?
I go to encounter for the millionth time the reality of experience and to forge in the smithy of my soul the uncreated conscience of my race.

Windows XP consists of 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor, written by a 2 bit company, that can't stand 1 bit of competition.
