here's an idea.... NO NEW FORUMS.... this site runs perfectly as is... you want help with something else? GO somewhere that is designed to help you with it.
Yes it is absolutely required and i request the admin to start one..
Well it is not required...
I dont care..

Only a Microsoft fanatic would say such a thing. Are you owned or what!
umm... yeah... i'm owned... "YAY... MICROSOFT RULES!!"
whatever...
what's wrong with keeping this site basic... where people come to ask questions about C and C++... why is that such a hard concept?
Which website are you talking about? This site is not currently set up that way, are you proposing to delete forums?
ummmmm.... yeah it is. Every forum on here, except for GD, is in some way related to C... game programming, linux... all of them are based on the idea that you're using C or C++ to design your program. I don't see any other languages specified.
It's possible to embed C++ code in java...

It would be nice but unfortunately we are a very long distance from C on this board for the most part.Originally posted by ober5861

How is that, Dean? (with the exception of the GD board, which I'm sure most will agree has almost nothing to do with C)

The C and C++ language should be used to build software architectures and we should be able to design our own solutions. OOP design is going in the right direction on many fronts, but now you have an evil empire that is going to shut down everything and build all of the architecture for you. Do everything for you, control you. I don't know if C is worth anything on a system that controls every instruction.
There is a full out war on the rise. I would be fine just using Linux now that I have discovered that it is all I need, but MS is going to try to cut off the internet. They are now going to try to own the internet.
What many newbies don't know is that the C you learn can not be applied to do any real work that the language is very capable of doing.
I don't consider anymore C done on a MS operating system as the C language. It is an interpreted language called Microsoft C. And it is junk.

True, in most cases...

Um... if you say so, chief.

On the Microsoft OS, it seems that C is depleted of its purpose. On any other operating system it is very powerful. Only Microsoft engineers themselves are allowed to program for their own system. Just think, what is your definiton of C. I think that you guys should ask yourself that question. I seriously don't understand why all of you aren't using VB because it is the superior langauge on the Microsoft OS.
OK, I'm bored, so I'll bite.
1) I define C as what I compile with a C compiler (I don't use MSVC - does that make my code interpreted or compiled, Dean?)
2) How, besides RAD, is VB better than C? (Jesus, I can't believe I got suckered into this)

It doesn't matter what compiler you use on the MS operating system it all gets translated to Win32 hence an unknown implementation. In addition MS will likely cut out Win32 access and make you go through 2 levels of translation as in .net managed environments. You C programs will be extremely perverted and limited in functionality. C will not be a research language, you will not even be using it, but instead something that is prefabricated.Originally posted by Govtcheez

The only true C and C++ users out there are the actual Microsoft developers. They wrote everything in C including VB, .net, Win32, etc. Bjarne Stroustrup invented a great research langauge and only the vendors are using it. They are abusing people with the knowledge gained from C and C++.
