    Space, Police, and King's quest.

    Someone in the DOS forum posted a message about the early days of computing, and it reminded me of something I've been doing lately. I've been going through our massive boxes (I've estimated their are over 3,000 disks there) of those old 5 1/2 inch flexible disks. You know - those old games like Space Quest Police Quest and Kings Quest are still my favorite games in the world, but most of our copies were destroyed when we emiograted. I think they were put on the container ship next to the section owned by Acme Elctromagnets Inc. because there was almost nothing left. We have the first half of Space Quest 1, and we used to have every single edition of Space Quest up until #13 before now, we still have the full version #2, but nothing else for Space Quest. We used to have police quest 1-7, now we only have 1 and SWAT (version 5). Kings quest, we used to have every edition. I have the disks for all of them, but the data has been so badly changed it malfunctions like none other. If anyone has copies of any of these games could you send them to me as an attachment to my email address? (shown below)

    do a search for abandonware. i'm sure you'll find a lot of what you're looking for. i lost a game called 'millenium' and downloaded it back maybe 7 years later. (note: since most games are patented, it may be illegal to do this. but i think since you are replacing backups, it should be legal for you.)

    Sarien Encounter, Vohaul's revenge - yep - those were the good old days. Well I found a coupleof other's but none of them are working. Another thing hit me - 2000 and XP won't support them and other systems are going out FAST.

    "Ulence Flats" stuck in my mind for some reason (I have never heard of the game before). I just realised why.

    >>> flat-ulence

    Correct, subtle huh.

    Ulence Flats was the desert settlement you reached after getting off the ship, down to the planet, through the caves, slayed the dreadful Orat, (by pouring a bucket of water over it from memory), and earning the gratitude of the locals.

    Those games were so playable, I rarely play games any more, they simply are not fun now. Even the later xQuest games became tiresome.

    The only spacequest I ever played was the one where you shove a banana up the WD40's tailpipe . The only problem with that on my new system is that it runs so fast, when you try to rescue shmitty from space, the EVA turns too fast. Oh well (I know because I redownloaded it from an abandonware sit off a nostalgia trip )

    KingsQuest6 was fun...
