i saw this the other day:
nE1 gAAg [instert lame skater movie here] 4 chEr wIt mE
is this the anti-anti-rebellion breaking out here? pretty soon everyone over 18 will be up against the wall with the lawyers because hoosiers like this bloke keep populating the world with braindead wannabe rebels rebelling against a rebellion they can't define in more than three syllables.

seriously, why is formal diction so rare on the net?

So sad, yet so true. But, as I say, let sleeping lamers lie. Besides, lamers are needed (especially when it comes to that atrocity known as fanfiction), otherwise they'd never be able to learn from their own ignorance; I can look back to about 4 or 5 years ago, and honestly say that in my adolescense, I was a "l4m3r."

I usually warn idiots who deliberately spell oddly, if they continue to do it, I stop helping them.

Bah, i'm sure a lot of us here can say that. Back when I was learning the proper 'etiquette' to be used on the internet, I was for the most part, a lamer. Although we're not talking 4 to 5 years, more like 2

Is 'etiquette', perhaps, the word you're looking for?
Lead me not into temptation... I can find it myself.

That's true, I've been on the Internet about 12 years, when WAIS was going to be the next big thing and the web was just a swiss dream.
Once AOL got big in a hurry, millions of clueless people flooded the web. Flames, ALL CAPS TYPING, etc, were the norm for a couple years.

    >seriously, why is formal diction so rare on the net?
Because these days it's so easy to get online. It used to be that you had to be relatively intelligent to get on and navigate effectively, but now any idiot can do it.

    >I usually warn idiots who deliberately spell oddly
I usually ignore them completely. People like that tend toward willful ignorance and nothing I can say will change that. I just let the phase run its course and hope that they snap out of it.
