    Question 3Ds Max Problems people!!!

How on earth are you supposed to mak a particle bomb work PROPERLY???
e.g. make a sphere explode into thousands of iddy-bitty bits.

I know how to put a sphere in and I know how to put a PBomb spacewarp in but the two just aint connecting the WAY I WANT!!!!

    Any Ideas?

    Thanks.
Why? The often unanswerable question. If it is unanswerable, why answer it?

Create the sphere, add a PArray to the scene and bind it with the sphere. Then hide the sphere and set the parameters for the PArray:

    Viewport Display: Mesh

    Life: 100

    Particle Types: Object Fragments

    Thickness: 30
    Number of Chunks: 100

    Spin Time: 80
    Variation: 70

Leave everything else as default and move the animation slider around a bit. What you should see is a sphere that breaks up into many large chunks and rotate as they fly out in zero gravity. From here you can add motion blur, mapping, flames, whatever you want.

You don't. A sphere is not a particle system or dynamic effect, so a PBomb has no effect. To blow up a sphere with a space warp you need to use Geometric/Deformable space warps such as Bomb. But even then Bomb is lame because it breaks the mesh up into individual polygons with no thickness. My previous post describes a very simple yet much more realistic break up of a mesh.
