    America Haters

How many of you guys who are always teash-talking America - have actually lived on both sides?

  2. #2
My friend, I tend not to say things I know nothing about. It'll only make one look foolish in the end. (Though I'm not on the bash-america bandwagon I have a few valid points I occasionally like to make regarding the country.)

So, in response; Yes, I've lived there and many other places as well.

But the Canada-US thing is just a joke. When was the last time you saw a thread that was seriously anti-US started by a Canadian? Ay?

    >>seriously anti-US started by a Canadian?

No threads but I couldnt even count the number of people I know who love nothing more than tearing a strip out of your president every chance they get. The mans got no fans up here (and with good reason). Its not so much the people as the country as a whole. The US tends to remind me of the saying: "Who needs enemies with friends like this."

No offence to individual people who live there.

1). he did not immeditly apologize for the death of our soldiers

2). he snubbed canada by travelling for a trade mission to mexico on his first presidential trip, recall that every other president travelled to canada first...

3). he has impossed unfair lumber duties

4). canadian meat products will now be labeled as not comming from the us

5). most candians view him as being an uneducated southern hick

6). he called mexico the most important trade partner for the us when infact canada is...

7). he subsidizes his farmers heavily and floods the market with rediculously cheap grain

8). he will not allow the civilian who dropped the bomb to be interogated by canada, the civilian will most likely not stand trial

and the list could go on... mainly most people are sore about our soldiers... we can take it when the taliban kills our troops but not when some civilian drop's a 1000 pound bomb on our soldiers... the labeling of beef, the lumber duties and bush's idifference to canada have ........ed quite a few cannucks off

Well, those are all legitimate claims if they are true. I haven't heard of any of them but believe me due to the US media I will take your word for it. The only point I would have to disagree with is that Canada is our most important trade partner? Although, I would disagree that Mexico is as well.

One thing I think that the rest of the world forgets? The presidency of the US, is just a figurehead. If you think that George W. Bush makes all the decisions on his own without regard of anyone else's opinion as a king would, you are sadly mistaken. He is basically told what to do on every issue put before him by a panel of people known as his cabinet.

He actually has very high ratings among American people. But his ratings reflect his administration. Administration is the keyword here. If you don't like the way the white house is being run then fine, but just remember that George W is only one man in the big picture.

I've visited the states on a number of occasions and done some work there, mainly in Vegas. My friends work for MS on the XBox and other IT firms in Chicago. I have relatives in Texas.

GWB has few fans down under either.

    1) Farm subsidies.

    2) Quotas on beef, sugar, grain and lamb.

    3) Tariffs on steel.

    4) Poaching our traditional markets with said subsidiesed products. (Fair enough if you don't lower the price with the subsidy)

    5) Trying to tell us to eliminate our quarantine laws when we are fighting fire ants, cane toads(though that was our fault), bananna box frogs, coddling moth, rabies, fire blight, ect, ect, ect while increasing said barriers to free trade in the US

    6) Demanding our SAS on call, our supply ships for the Gulf blockade, use of our land for satalite spy bases (at a $1 per year rent) and access to our ports for shipping. Without reciprocating in kind, or treating us as allies.

    7) Refusing to sign the Kyoto protocol. Strange how J Howard used the exact same wording as GWB in his refusal to sign.

    8) Holding our citizens without legal or consual aid and without charge. Even the one arrested in Pakistan is presumed guilty of something?

    >If you have been trash-talking America lately, have you lived on both sides?

Nope, my flight to the US was canceled. 9/14 wasn't the best date to have a ticket to Washington. But you will notice that most people are not talking about America. No one ever said something about your country. We were talking about American politics and the behaviour of American people. And this is something you can feel everyday even outside of America. If I meet Americans I can comment on their behaviour. If I hear the speeches of your president, or see what happens in world politics, I can comment on it. And I do.
