Why would you want to wear a hat inside anyhow? It's stupid to wear one inside, but it's equally stupid to force people to not.

its is an old custom... hats are to be removed to demonstrate respect for your teachers and administrative staff... many school have brought in the policy not to deal with respect but to prevent gangs(dont ask why but schools seem to think gang members wear the same hat etc...)

It is because people blindly follow tradition. Their parents told them it was disrespectful, and it continues to sift down the generations. It is that way with a lot of things.

Ken, most people wear baseball style hats because of style, not neccessity. They just think it looks good. Kind of like a necklace.

you shouldnt wear a hat inside...as stated its a mark of respect and tradition, and as also stated, what the hell is the point? raining inside? sunny? at the races for the ladies? I know its supposed to be fashionable...but every1 i see with baseball hat on(either correct way/wrong way round) looks a right tit.
    Such is life.

I dont wear hats at all. I also think that most people I see with their caps look 'a right tit'. But *&@! tradition. It makes no sense whatsoever to force someone do remove certain articles of their clothing in certain places. I'm also pretty sure that there's no disrespect in wearing what you want to wear; so there goes that idea.

The whole concept ........es me right off. Just another stupid rule. Makes me want to buy a hat and wear it for no other reason.

Well if you were of the Christian faith, you would know that a hat should not be worn, wherever a crucifix, or cross is present, (usually on the wall). That is to show respect for Jesus dying on a cross.

Plus, if you wear a hat too much, you can bald, just look at most of the NHLers, they wear helmets all the time.

i'm not asking about religious buildings. i'm talking about a secular enviroment, walking inside a normal building.

What is an old wives tale, the thing about helmets, or the religious belief. Maybe the helmets, but a lot of them are balding, look for youself!!!!

The religious aspect is definetely not an old wives tale.

Which, assuming that one were to believe any of that, still makes no sense whatsoever. How can you say that wearing a hat is disrespectful? Why? Explain to me why and I will listen. Give me orders with no reason and I will laugh in your face.

there's absolutely no reason for it. But if your school is half as bad as mine was you better watch it. It actually got to the point at mine (keep in mind it's not a very good school but still) where we can't wear a jacket of any type after 1st period started. Could not carry a backpack. That's right, for all the people who weren't slackers and actually remembered their books, they had to carry them to class, no hat's. And we actually had a policeman on duty.

Lightdawn, even if that is the case. There are actually laws to keep religion out of school. THen in that case for the same reason that teachers cannot force upon their religion, they would have to rule out that. But it seems that about all school nowadays and enforcing that hat rule. Stupid zero tolerance bull crap

In my school, you can wear hats. But, when you're giving a test, the teacher would order you to take it off.

Because they think that you might have some cheating material fixed in the hat...or you might look in your neighbour's test copy without being noticed.
