We have people here like you... Nazi's, Clan, Biggots, etc. All people with unfounded reasons to discriminate and hate people because of there ideals, race, politics, and affiliations.
Amen. You couldn't have said that better.

I think some politicians see the International Court as a chance for several "dislikeable" countries (i.e., ones that disagree with the U.S.) to combine against the U.S. with "false allegations." They also have a feeling that those tried may not be guaranteed the rights U.S. citizens have come to expect when charged with criminal conduct: These rights are, namely, (1) the right of innocence until guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt, (2) the right to refuse to incriminate oneself, (3) the right to a fair and impartial trial by jury from among one's peers, etc. What's the chance that the likes of Iraq, China, or some other country might decide to vote by political feelings instead of with impartiality?

This is hardly a reason to not like (i.e., hate) America; the United States is only trying to preserve its rights and the rights of its citizens.

Lol, I considered editing my post. I forgot that anybody who didn't agree in every respect is considered a potential enemy. Amen to Betazeps Nazi, Biggot diatribe (even if he meant it in a different way).

All of a sudden the rest of the world is going to go by the word of Saddam Hussain, right?

If you have oposing politicians in America do they try by dishonest means to demolish oposition with false allegations? Oh yeah, sorry I forgot, but generally they don't, right?

    >These rights are, namely, (1) the right of innocence until guilt is proven beyond a reasonable doubt, (2) the right to refuse to incriminate oneself, (3) the right to a fair and impartial trial by jury from among one's peers, etc. <

Wow, keep going. You've got so much to teach us stupids. Only yesterday I burnt some-one at the stake because a friend of a friend told me that they'd placed one of those cursey things on me.

    >What's the chance that the likes of Iraq, China, or some other country might decide to vote by political feelings instead of with impartiality? <

I've no doubt they'll be in a position to crucify every last one of you.

    >This is hardly a reason to not like (i.e., hate) America; the United States is only trying to preserve its rights and the rights of its citizens.<

If you step out of your padded cell for a while you might notice that a substantial proportion of the world is trying to do the same thing, with more or less the same basic values (this doesn't mean that they agree with everything though). I think you overestimate anybody who thinks they are in some way going to corrupt you.

I doubt anybody here hates America (unless we have some of those nasty extremists). It's just some people appear to get annoyed by some of your attitudes towards the rest of the world. The ICC may well be a pile of ****, but some of your presumptions seem to be just as ****.

What conspiracy theory? It's in the history books; look up WWII and appeasement.

I am talking about the fact that Shiro went so far as to Assume and accuse the US that we are conspiring to commit the actions of Hitler; hence conspiracy theory, also a decent movie by Kurt Russel.

    Ahh, I see

    Hitler == violence

    therefore

    America + violence == Hitler

I can't speak for Shiros intentions, but if you are going to follow this logic then

Any male involved in a fight == violence

    therefore

Any male involved in a fight == Hitler

In which case, I think either you've jumped the gun a little or we've got a few mad dictators to assisinate.

<<Yes, but do you really think they'll have any power?>>

Yes...everyone gets one vote and who's going to have our back? Europe? I don't really have any confidence in the countries of Europe. GB is the only who is truly trustworthy. It seems every other county would be happy to offer support, but then shrink away when it starts to get nasty...Israel/Palestine crisis for example....where was everybody there? Most of Europe is all talk and little action...

<<I suspect the Senate's objection is more due some remote possibility that might play out (which is fair enough). But some countries seem to see it as an opportunity to police rogue states which would seem right up the US Governments street.>>

The first part of your statement is exactly my point, the senate is sending a message that's all. They don't want to play. the America haters go nuts over stupid s*it like this...it's ridiculous

Yes, the ICC could be use to polic rogue states, but do you really think that it's going to that easy? Again look at Iraq...the same people who object to more weapons inspectors are going to object to a Criminal trial of an iraqi for arms violations (or whatever BS law they come up with)...it's hardly going to be a smooth operation...

i'm just suprised that you guys are so willing to place the rights given to you by your country in the back seat to an international law making body...that's crazy...

Now back up some of that.

I never claimed it would work.

Shiro, no offense to you, but can you tell me the last time the US invaded someone and stayed there keeping the land? Also, feel free to research something called the Truman Doctrine. It is a US policy that would definately stop us from invading any country that wasn't an imminent threat to our security.

    >>Now back up some of that. << hmm where to begin...i've already mentioned the fact that most of Europe stayed out of the Israel/Palestine crisis...They just wined that the US wasn't involved enough (though we had a peace envoy in the region).

also, afghanistan...GB was the only country who stood by the US through the whole thing. The rest of Europe started backing away from the US when people started dying...After september 11, NATO pledged its TOTAL support...however, we got more help from Turkey than from most of the other nations in NATO...pathetic...no one. Europe is the impotent giant, and they're too easy to push around...

    >>We're all mad here. It helps pass the time.<<

at least we agree on something, partially...you forgot misinformed...

    WAKEUP

There's a difference (as you're no doubt aware) between support and support that costs lives. Governments can get voted out for this kind of crap. If any of the lives (or the lifestyle) of Europe was directly threatened then I think you'd have seen a different outcome. The US took it's time to recognise this in WWII (the fallback argument ).

    >WAKEUP

Wake up to this. I'd rather be dreaming.
