Linux is gnu which is absolutely correct but linux was derived from unix. If i'm wrong correct me, but if it wasn't for unix, there would be no linux.

Windows 3.1 - you must be nuts....

    Windows 95 - Yuck

windows 98/SE - Decent for the common home user, unstable in most respects.

    Windows 2k - Very nice

Windows 2K SERVER - Decent security, more beginner then NT.

Windows NT - Kick ass server os

Windows XP Pro Corp - My personal fav. I love it, never go back

Dos - Still the best for its uses

Linux - Depends on the version, i perfer redhat myself

    Unix - never used it

those wacked ones - same as above.
    Dude, your getting a dell!

    Linux

Linux. It has to be Linux.

I saw Windows XP ( allthough it has a cute graphical interface ) work on a 1Ghz 32 VRAM 256 RAM system and kill ALL the resources, and it couldn't do half the things a simple Linux Os could...Not that i mean to offend anyone, but before i tried out XP, everyone was praysing and glorifying it, while linux...well...let's not stretch it... You get da point.

    Have a nice day, coders.

    Another vote for Linux

    ...anything else is... garbage.
    OS: Linux Mandrake 9.0
    Compiler: gcc-3.2
    Languages: C, C++, Java

If you go flying back through time and you see somebody else flying forward into the future, it's probably best to avoid eye contact.

I do everything on Mandrake (Linux). I rarely use Windows, mostly on games.

I don't want to continue on an argument, but I don't like BeOS because it doesn't support my hardware
I know they have good intentions, but still...

This poll needs to be changed, stuff doesnt make sense, solaris is unix, and there are many other operating systems out there.

Me too. One day I hope to get all my games working on Mandrake using Wine.
