    Enemy of the State

I was watching the movie Enemy of the State tonight, and I wondered, does the government really have that kind of capability? If you don't know what I am talking about, in the movie, the government wires some guys clothing, watches, ect. and tracks him. During this, they get video feedback through satelite cameras, security cameras, and hidden cameras that transfer the data across radio waves. Is this actually possible?

BTW, I know that Big Brother is not watching me. I am not a comspiracy theorist, but I was just curious.

A friend of mine "knows some people" who are associated with the "goverments defense groups" ....."in the place where I live" and he would probably sit down and argue a nice conversation with you about such topics.

He thinks the goverment acquires pretty much everything approximately 1 year before the public sees it....

A reliable friend of mine told me a story about someone who worked for some governement agency, might have been the NRO I can't remember, who either was fired or left his job under less than ideal circumstances. When he was home one day he got up on the roof of his house, looked up to the sky and gave the finger to god. Within a few hours, agents arrived at his house and arrested him. The reason he was arrested was because by going up on the roof of his home at the specific time of day that he did and giving the finger, he demonstrated a precise knowledge of the timing scheduling of the spy satellites that flew over that region of the country. He was seen on the spy satellite and the agents had been sent to his home to place him in custody.
"Owners of dogs will have noticed that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they will think you are god. Whereas owners of cats are compelled to realize that, if you provide them with food and water and shelter and affection, they draw the conclusion that they are gods."

hk, that is hilarious! I could just imagine some guy, just Joe Nobody stressed out and wanting to blow off some steam. Climbs on top of his house and just gives the finger to the sky. He feels somewhat releaved so he climbs down the ladder only to be swamped by a dozen federal agents and beaten to a pulp before he's drug off for questioning......

That job-related stress doesn't seem so bad anymore....

of corse they can track someone that way. They do it all the time to ensure that say someone on probation stays within there desegnated area. However, I doubt that they could make a becon small enough that someone wouldn't notice it. There was that case where the guy was given a speeding ticket because the tracking becon in his rental car said that he was going too fast. The fact is though is that if someone is just randomly spyied apon in their home and seen comit a crime, spy camra results are considered invalid eveidence.

Ah...but with the advent of 9/11...

A friend was taken in for questioning at a major international airport when he tried to get his e-ticket simply because his name was used as an alias by one, or more, of the 9/11 hijackers. (True story.)

More than a little distressing to his wife and young daughters who only thought they were going on vacation...

By the way, my wife and I have worked at a Federal facility for 26 years and, with the increased security, you'd be very surprised at the number of people who want to enjoy the "feeling" of increased security (read as "safety") without the inconvenience of being "checked" themselves.
