    oh ****, my bad, that's what i got too....guess i was thinking about the (-6) when I was writing it

    to be exact, if h=height,

    Code:
    (h)(pi)(3^2)=792(pi)/10

    or, h=8.8

    TF, height should be increased by .8
    oh i'm sorry! i didn;t realize my fist was rushing to meet ur face!

    i got it in an easier way. i did not even get anything like 792.
    i got:
    3(pi)x=2.4(pi)
    .: x= 2.4 / 3
    .: x=0.8

    here's a problem for ya

    Code:
    if x is a number that satisfies

       ____        _____
    \3|x+9   -  \3| x-9    = 3
     \|          \|

    find the value of X^2
    oh i'm sorry! i didn;t realize my fist was rushing to meet ur face!

    I found a easier way to write that problem

    Code:

    if

    [(x+9)^(1/3)] - [(x-9)^(1/3)] = 3

    what's x^2?

    or we can increase the diameter by:
    0.292853089

    ps: i am not so sure about that

    The current volume of the glass is:

    Formula: Base area*height/3

    Diameter/2=r, in this case 3cm. base area= r^2*3.14, which in this case becomes 28.26 cm2.

    28.26*8=226.08; 226.08/3=75.36. The glass can currently keep a volume of 75.36cm3.

    The manufacturers wants it to be able to keep 10% more, 75.36*1.1=82.896

    For you guys, I think this is a really easy problem. Hope I cleared things up here.

    me and commander already got the answer long time ago... it is posted a few posts before..

    anyway here it is again:

    we can increase the height by 0.8 cm
    or we can increase the diameter by 0.292853089 cm
    I am the Alpha and the Omega!!!

    Cool More milk please...

    MisterBadger says:

    Using pi to 7dp, working in millimetres:

    radius of sphere, r = 55mm

    Volume of sphere = 4/3*pi*r*r*r;

    Overall Volume = 4/3 * 3.1415926 * 55 * 55 * 55;

    = 696909.89 cubic millimetres;

    Non-shell radius = (110 - 96)/2 = 7mm;

    Non-shell Volume = 4/3 * 3.1415926 * 7 * 7 * 7;

    = 1436.75 cubic millimetres;

    Overall Volume - Non-shell Volume = Shell Volume;

    Shell Volume = 696909.89 - 1436.75 = 695473.14 cubic millimetres;

    (695473.14 / 696909.89) * 100 = 99.794 %

    Hoping I'm right, but disappointed about the lack of milk!

    Cheers from Badger - off to cool a tired brain

    I think you'll find this answer to be kind of interesting:
    If a 6ft tall person walks around the equator of Jupiter, how much more did his head travel than his feet?
    I know, I know, not much of a math problem, although...
    This is my signature. Remind me to change it.
