    *sigh*

What is it with stupid little kiddies that have no lives? They just have to put trojans and virii on my box, don't they?

::sigh:: In case you're wondering - Installing XP left me scanner-less and I just ran a scan from an on-line scanner and apparently I have 4 trojans (3 Sub7), and one JavaScript virus. And, of course, the scanner listed them all as being unable to be removed by it.

I guess what I'm getting at is does anyone know of some good free scanners? Or at least a shareware one...

I recommend changing your sig to one of those that changes daily, or one with a serious message (and doesn't grow tired).

    Well then... that was productive...

Try AVG. Seems to work better than the rest.

I agree, AVG is a great free anti-virus. I like Kerio Personal Firewall too (it's free too). Tiny has a similar product along with Trojan Trap that might be worth looking into.

They physically get access to your computer and install them that way? You probably wouldn't have this problem if you were running that "inferior in everyway" operating system called Linux .

You might be able to get their ICQ number from the Sub7 trojan.

    Just a thought.

I also have Antivir XP/NT or something it seems to be pretty good, and yes I am also running a firewall.

    antivirus

I am using sygate personal firewall, but I also hear that a firewall called Tiny firewall is pretty good.

    Huh?

I mean you can get the hacker's ICQ number from the Sub7 Trojan.

Because the sub7 server can be programmed to automatically ICQ the hacker when the victim is online. For this the ICQ number of the hacker is required to be entered into the trojan.

    Yeah.

Use an ICQ "emulator" such as trillian, and you should be less at risk than normal ICQ users. It is still possible to get your IP address very easily, however, so make sure you have a solid firewall and turn off file and print sharing!

You can get somebody's IP address on MSN pretty easily, too. [its a tiny bit harder].

The online one was something I found in a post at flashdaddee, elcuhulo...

My sig stays as-is unless you bring me more lesbians

    I am running a firewall - ZoneAlarm

And thanks for the AVG recomendation...downloading it right now.

And to ss...bleh. I never said it was inferior in every way, I have 2 distros currently installed on one of my computers. I just happen to like windows better...so sue me. Plus, it's just so much fun to watch those YPN kiddies go ballistic when you say something bad about Linux or good about Windows...and can back it up
