No apologies needed, I take quite an interest in the history of computers in general, and if I'm wrong I would always like to know the correct answer.

Not exactly on topic but I came across and now own a Commodore 64 in its original box with the original Kmart pricetag. btw - it still works!!! Is that not cool?

My dream career is to work either in AT&T Bell Labs Research, Los Alamos National Laboratories, or the NSA.
I go to encounter for the millionth time the reality of experience and to forge in the smithy of my soul the uncreated conscience of my race.

Windows XP consists of 32 bit extensions and a graphical shell for a 16 bit patch to an 8 bit operating system originally coded for a 4 bit microprocessor, written by a 2 bit company, that can't stand 1 bit of competition.

Ah... the Commodore 64. I remember having one of those. I had this game called Jumpman(?) that came on a casette tape and took about 12 minutes to load into memory. After a few dozen successfull loads, the tape started to develop errors and the program couldn't load any more.

Shouldn't this be moved to the General Discussion Board?

    Wink All aboutt the programming

I don't know too much about Microsoft history, only it has an ugly chairman, it's all about the coding to me, I am only a complete beginner but I enjoy it more than anyting I learnt at school, even though it does get frustrating at times I love to solve the problems, I have done **** jobs ever since I left school moving from warehouse to warehouse and noe I'm learning something that lets me use my brain power, I can't wait until I'm ready to move onto more advanced stuff 'cos the stuff I'm writing now gives me a thrill and I know how trivial it is.

    game programming!

i wanna program games, cause i made some pretty good games in VB last year but after awhile i had too many moving guys and it started really slowing down

i've only been programming c++ since sep. though, so i have awhile before making non-text grahpics

just my personal opinion, but isn't most other programming kinda boring, just like programming class, all databases and boring math stuff?

i think i want to try to work for blizzard or nintendo, then maybe form my own company if im up to it...

For me, programming is one of the most thrilling professions that ever existed. I'd be happy to spend the rest of my life on it, as long as I do not get Carpil Tunnel Syndrome. Math is my favorite of all subjects in school. Programming is a blessing. If you have an aptitude for it, it's even better.

    i had one too

i had a commodore 64 that i got from my uncles, it came w/ jumpman, spyhunter, some commando game, a helicopter game and i can't remember the others, but it ran off of 5 in. floppy disks so i didn't take too long to load. Unfortunetly i am an idiot and gave it away to someone i haven't seen since.

at least i kept my reg nintendo...

    still miss the commodore though

    math...

i don't really like it too much, which is kinda funny if i want to be a programmer, but i dunno if its too important in games (other than physics models and stuff)

and i guess the math stuff i really don't like is logs and proofs and graphing

Math is still important in programming. If you don't like either math or programming so much imagine doing it for the rest of your life. I'm not trying to deter you, but I do believe that if you are not going to be happy in this profession you should escape now. Day after day after day of what you dislike would make you lead a discusting life. Perhaps the language you're programming in isn't the right one for you.

School teaches you nothing. It is organized slavelabor meant to bore you and make you a part of a system. Be a free thinker and not a brainwashed individual. Your best achievements come through self teaching, listen not to what the slavedrivers will tell you. Believe what you know.
