but the older dictionaries, and as i was taught at school, its organise only......the z is a relatively recent Americanism corruption !!! its WON !! all kids now use the z !!! the z is now official English !!!! :)

actually, no it isn't, i'm reading The Times, and every word is organise, organisation, realise, conceptualise.......the s is definitely 'proper' English, the z is also allowed though...

Steve, I'm 41, and had always used -ise, until I read that -ize is (believe it or not) the correct english ending. If anything, it is -ise that is becoming the standard (viz the Times). My (1988) Oxford Paperback doesn't even list organise, although organize is there.
