    Question Schools

    So... there's a lot of people here in or about college, huh? Where does(did) everyone go to school? Who has the best CS department? What school sucks harder than a shop-vac/Monica Lewinsky hybrid?

    My school's good (really good, if you're going mechanical or industrial), but the location is crap...

    Mandatory co-ops are our distinguishing factor - the only other university that does it like this (that I know of) is Purdue.

    Check it out - please! I'm lonely! Boo-hoo-hoo!
    Btw, on the off chance that anyone out there is actually going to Kettering, I'll probably be at the job fair on their front page...

    I start my sophmore year at the university of Houston, in a couple of weeks. I might end up transfering though. The building which housed the CS dept computer labs was all but destroyed by Tropical Storm Allison. I want to see how bad it really is. Houston was cheap. That's why i chose it.
    THIS IS NOT JUST A CHRONICLING OF THINGS WE HAVE DONE IN THE PAST BUT OUR RISE TO POWER.

    I went to Royal Holloway College, University of London - no idea about the CS department (dont even know where it was) as i majored in Biology and specifically in paleantology

    unfortunatly class didn't make or in english not enought people wanted to learn C++ s othey killed the class... they suggested Java Scripting or Visual Basic or Win2k or Win98 as alternatives...

    what a bunch of suck...

    BTW: just remembered MY INSTRUCTOR WAS GONNA BE ONE OF THE GUYS WHO HEADS UP SABER FOR CRAPS SAKE!!!! man...

    I was going to be a physics kid and aced my first semester of programming. Needless to say I switched majors and don't regret it a bit. I think our program's pretty easy but it's got all the same classes as the big schools so it can't be too far off. (And I've taken just about all of them)
    We do have very good professors though.
    We have a new guy coming this semester that's really smart in the graphics area. He and a couple guys came up with a great image processing scheme. The capability to enlarge an image to any size with near flawless clarity. It's truely amazing. (a rather simple concept too)

    -cheap ($1800/semester tuition)
    -small class sizes (no TAs)
    -first name basis with your professors
    AND
    -all the elementary ed majors you can date
    (we're one of the top in the nation in elem ed)
    If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is around to see it, do the other trees make fun of it?

    My first degree was a B.A. in Theology from Moody Bible Institute, Chicago IL.

    My second degree was a B.S. in Information Technology from DeVry. Pretty good school- very flexible for a guy like me (2 kids, full time job, etc.)

    The big question is where to go for the next, and what to get.

    I have to wait anyway- my wife wants to get her masters before I can go back to school again.
    He is no fool who gives up what he cannot keep in order to gain what he cannot lose.
