Is the internet forcing everybody to learn English?
"Man alone suffers so excruciatingly in the world that he was compelled to invent laughter."
    Friedrich Nietzsche

"I spent a lot of my money on booze, birds and fast cars......the rest I squandered."
    George Best

"If you are going through hell....keep going."
    Winston Churchill

No. There are quite a lot sites in your own language, so there is no need for learning English when you want to take a look at the internet. But since most (?) sites on the internet are in English, it's very useful to be able to read English.

wll, I'm not a native speaker myself, but living in the US kinda does force you to learn English, doesn't it?

    - Nooo, don't make me learn English, I don't want to know!!! Stop trying to make me understand you! Ughhh, all these people, everyone's against me... I don't think there would be any way to have it spoken around you and not learn... that would be "unpossible" =)

i read somewhere that linus lastname-i-forget commented all of his code in english not because more programmers knew english, but because english has the biggest technical vocabulary.

    >but because english has the biggest technical vocabulary.

Which is perhaps caused by the fact that English is the leading language in technology. Every technology company communicates with international partners in English, many information is mainly available in English (especially when searching for information on the internet) etc.
