whats the best place to host a website for free? i'm a beginner, so i don't need hundreds of mb of space or huge transfer rates. I'm looking for somplace that will allow ftp uploading,with no ads for completely free,includeing domain name.

You can't get anything like that for free. www.namezero.com gives you domain names for free. www.tripod.com gives you hosting for free. But both of them have ads. Or you can pay like $15 for the domain for a year (about a buck a month) and use tripod and change to pop up ads so they don't clutter the page.
Free domain isn't going to happen without ads...

ok, i found freewebhosting.hostdepartment.com
they have no adds or pop up banners and allow unlimited ftp access. they only give 10mb and don't support MySQL, php etc. I don't think I will be doing any of that anytime soon.
does this sound good?
