Being a resident of florida you'd think I'd know a bit more about the election process, but all I know is that either

    A) Democrats can't read
    B) Butterflies scare people
    C) Democrats can and will complain, argue, and demand a recount for everything and anything
    D) All of the above and then some.

One day I'll find one of the 2 pre-election butterfly ballots that were sent to my famly and scan them. I swear you'd have to be freaking braindead to not see where to poke the damn hole...

The problem with government can be summed up in this:

The will to power. (remember Immanuel Kant? i think he wrote something about the will to power)

    >>So it is unfair to blame a nation for the choices their leaders make.

If it is a democracy, who is to blame? Who can change the leaders or their attitudes?

Why do these all turn into anti American discusions?
Because America has huge power, both political and finacial. In both public and state areas.
And continues to act irresponsibly in the world arena. Bush introduces tariffs and subsidies and then talks of incoraging free trade in a country where the subsidies hit farmers hard and the US has a US$60bil trade surplus (US provides US$40bil in total world aid).

Your media seems only concerned with him 'pandering to Hispanic minorities'.

Take this new CBDTPA. If it happens as proposed on the hardware level.
Will the Tiwanese manufactures change the hardware to suit the US? (forcing the rest of us to follow)

you all are very pessimestic. and anti-american. we are not the antichrist/antimuhammed/antibudda/etc...
what is flaming america in this topic doing? nothing. while you're complaining about our government, our government is acting. we are not out to get any country, not even iraq. we are pragmatists, and our way of life has made us rich and sucessful, without leaving us morally bankrupt. i believe we have a trade deficit, not a surplus.

To the _country_ in question, where GWB was (look it up if you don't know, hint its in South America and starts with P).
You send them US$60bil MORE than they send you.

That is a trade surplus isn't it?

Why? Because you lower the prices of your exports with subsidies (US$340Bil anounced this year by GWB making you more subsidised than Europe) and raise the prices of imports with tariffs (a new lot just announced on steel by GWB of up to 30%).
    (Please check these numbers)

Then GWB expounds how comitted you are to free trade.

But hey if someone needs a good kickin' then your all in with no stopping.
Need a bit of hard work in fixing your industries or cleaning up the environment and we get GWB saying 'not if it hurts the US economy'. OK if it hurts other countries who are your allies.

wow. one country. that really defines global commerce.
making you more subsidised than Europe
what are you implying? that europe is the continent that's supposed to subsidize its exports and have low prices? or that europe normally does this?

politics isn't a friendly game. we're not required nor expected to help other countries economicly. in short: we don't care about other countries, at least not in an economic sense. i agree with you about the enviroment. what do you mean by fixing our industries?

I must say I'm amazed by all the bickering and flaming over here. I was actually hoping programmers would be different, but some of you proved me wrong. Shame on you.

If you do critici someone, do it in an orderly fashion and well agrumented. That for starters will solve a lot of problems in the world.

    Relax...

No. That subsidies are ANTI free trade. No country should PAY companies to produce nothing or produce products that are not wanted / saleable.

    >>or that europe normally does this?

The US has become the most subsidised country in the world under GWB. Taking over from Europe.

    >>what do you mean by fixing our industries?

If we in Aust can produce steel and get it to the US cheaper than the US can make it there.
Then it is not reasonable to place a 30% price hike on top of our steel to protect your industry. Same goes for a host of other products. Steel is just the latest.
Remember the US tax payer is paying for this.

GWB can not then stand up on international TV and brag how the US is encouraging world trade. Or sue the UK using the WTA over bananas.

You, approx 1/16 of the worlds population, can not produce 1/4 of its green house gasses, and then refuse to even consider stopping. It is not the only the US you are polluting. It is yours and my childrens world you are killing for a few US$.

Well the the US has a small population, there are many places in the world that don't have the industries that produce green house gases. Also you have to look at the amout that is created.

    Sentaku senshi,
I don't understand but I think you missed my point. let me clarify. (greenhouse gas == BAD)

The US produces 1/4 (25%) of the green house gas in the world.

It has about 1/16 of the worlds poplation.

Therefore it is producing 4 times more greenhouse gas than it should.

GWB refuses to do more than reduce this amount to 1/5 (20%) in 5 years.

The world agreement GWB refused to endorse was the Kyoto protocol.

You think other countries don't do this? Why do you think American automobiles sell so poorly in Japan?
