    He Who Controls the Bootloader

    hi @ all.

i´m sure everybody have had heard about the DOJ vs. Microsoft antitrust trial.
looking for what happens to a nice OS (with the name BeOS) i had tried years ago, i found this article.

    http://www.byte.com/documents/s=1115...27_hacker.html

those of you who did not know exacly what this trial is about (like i was), will find a scaring story of ruling the market.
anyway it is a well informing article which is worth reading.

    (This is Hillbillie posting. )

Everyone over at Flashdaddee probably knows this story by heart...because I preached about it for a week.

Unlike other lawsuits filed against MS, Be actually has a very very good reason. Hopefully, the judges will see how big of an issue this is. It makes the Netscape fiascal look like...well something very insignificant.

Doubtful... Be's not exactly what you'd call a big name company (unless they get Palm or 3M to do the suing)

    hey hillibillie

i found this article by folowing your link to OBOS.
    getting shocked of beos´s history.
the whole BeOs comunity remembers me to good old C64-times.
sadly my c-experience was and is not good enough to take comfort in BeOS. i´m just a dump user
    but i´m working on it:-)

(Hillbillie again.) Geez, I just needa break down and log in.

I didn't mean this lawsuit has more publicity, but rather the reason for suing is much more legitimate. Netscape does browsers and MS does OS's. They're in two different ballparks. Be (used to do) OS's and MS does OS's. They're in the same ballpark...

    >i´m just a dump user<

Hehe, me too. When I get time, I plan on helping the good guys at OBOS out...

Legitmacy aside, though - how many lawsuits do you think a company the size of MS catches and settles, though (esp. since they're Microsoft)

Too true. And in the position Be is in, they'll probably take the offer to pay off their debts.
