Glee Terrorists are annoying. They're the people who don't know you from Adam, yet stop you in the hall and insist you cheer up:

[Walking down the hall to refill my coffee cup]

"Hey! How come I never see you smiling?? You need to put on your happy face, you old grumpy bear!"

[Subtly slip my hand into my pants pocket, where it rests on the grip of a snub-nose .38 revolver]

"Things can't be so bad that you can't turn that frown upside..." [BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG click click click] "HAHAHAHAHA! TAKE THAT YOU GLEE NAZI! YEAH! I'M HAVING A GOOD TIME NOW!"

People don't stop me in the hall enough.

For me, drive slowly in front of me. That works great if you want a bumper full of pickup truck.... Yeah just try it fun-boy.

Deckard, I think you need to seek help. Immediately. And not from a doll. I know what you mean, though. These people are frequently the same people that stop me halfway through work term (when I've been at work for, oh, 2 months or so) and say "Hey, when'd you get back! So, you like Mountain Dew, huh? What're you doing with that staple remover? Oh God, no, not my Challenge the Process mug! Ow! The pincy ends hurt me! Ow! Put away that rubber band!"

So, like I said, I know what you mean. Time to go to the lab...

Here's one thing that annoys our V.P.: In conversation with him, I like to make "air quotes" with my fingers anytime I use the word management.

That'll surely annoy any member of management.

Or those one's that always make me imagine myself slamming my CPU against their head - the one's that always assure you that whatever happened to them is not your fault (like I give a damn).

Case in Point - Our commander was up for a promotion. Well he didn't get it and decided to retire. So he holds a Commanders Call for our squadron only to ensure us that his not getting his promotion had nothing to do with the squadron. DUH! At that point I just imained myself beating him senseless with my CPU and gouging (sp?) out his eyes with my ergonomically correct staple remover.

Glee Nazi's are bad too. Thanfully, there's only like 2 in my squadron so I don't have to worry about them too much. I usually just treaten them w/my liter of hot coffee and they tend to back off.

An annoying variant of that are people who quickly disavow any responsibility when a problem arrises, even before the source of the problem has been identified.
    • "Hey, we've noticed a production problem where data is being trashed and..."

      "It's not me!"

"Uh huh, well it could be a number of things and I was hoping we could review the..."

"I DIDN'T MAKE ANY CODE CHANGES!! IT'S NOT ME!"

"Yeah... look, I'm not planning to hang anyone over it. I'd just like to find the problem and fix it."
I suspect these people come from environments where management plays the "Blame Game" instead of the "Customer Service Game". I want the problem identified, and I want to prevent it from happening again, but we don't need to run around and kick each other in the nuts to accomplish that ;)

Probably the most annoying thing at work is when newbie programmers try to second guess me with either an incorrect solution or a flat out mistake. Normally I'm very peacful, but it sure would feel good to smack those guys.
WHAP! "Come back when you have more than one month of experience!"

It makes me smile just thinking about it
