    E-books

We all know about Learn C in 21 days and TYCPP being up, but has anyone else found any other books online?

    Eg. Petzold, K&R, etc.?

I doubt you'd get Petzold as it is published by the evil empire.

    Alright, alright... Jeez...

I would definitely like to get my hands on a copy, esp. from the 'net (but then I wouldn't get my hands on it... never mind)

I'd be suprised if petzold wasn't available somewhere as my hard copy came with a cd that contains the book in electronic form.

I don't suppose you'd upload it or e-mail it to me?

you can find many e-books both fiction and technical on
the newsgroups. To do this you need a newsreader. A
free one, I think, is available at forteinc.com. One you get
the newsreader installed, go to alt.binaries.e-books.

What you will find on the newsgroups will absolutely astound you.

whats the legal deal on uploading books to your site, i know that copying them to your site without authorisation is a violation of copyright laws but are the companies really hot on it. Do they have to request its removal first or can they just sue me immediately

There are hundreds of e-books on the newsgroups-- uploaded
by dozens, downloaded by thousands. Nobody to my knowledge
is trying to prevent it. It's opportunity that makes a thief.
    I may be a thief, but I'm a well-read thief.

I don't mind e-books, but it hurts my eyes after a while of reading them.

Bruce Eckel has his books up for free at his site (sorry I can't remember the url).

Petzold seems pretty good about piracy, just a personal email
to someone who was going to try to pirate his book by email.
This wasn't on a binary newgroup though. A number
of authors would get you kicked off your isp, etc.

www.hoganbooks.com as some online books and you can find a number of manuals at different sites.
