    A woman type question.

Why is it necessary, when packing for a holiday, (bear in mind this is a couple of weeks in another part of Europe where everything is readily available and probably cheaper than where we live), for a woman to...

    a) be completely freaked out if her partner is not packed 2-3 days before travelling, (I always pack 10 minutes before leaving the house).

    b) be unable to possibly survive two weeks without 5 almost identical pairs of damned sandals.

    c) assume that my pack is available for her use.

    d) then having used all the space in my pack with piles of un-necessary rubbish, moan that I haven't got enough "decent" shirts and ties with me?

Okay, that being said, I'm off for a couple of weeks so be good!

I hear you adrian... When I went on vacation for a week with my girlfriend last summer, she was packed 4 days in advance. I packed an hour before we left, and still had time to stop to get some lunch before I pciked her up.

oh well this probably proves that i am not a woman - i always pack just before i leave (and that usually means throw some shirts, jeans and a pair of trainers into a bag), only pack one extra pair of shoes (usually trainers - cant remember the last time i wore a pair of shoes), usually pack the bare minimum (i cant be bothered to carry a heavy bag around) .. the only thing i do pack well and a lot of is my bag of cameras (though they are usually packed ready anyhow)

and cheez - naked - ewwwwww!

    >>they can't pee standin up...

not true. I think it was a dutch woman who invented the "plastuit" (a peethingy for woman). Because at festivals all guys go search a tree or a fence and they pee against it. All the girls has to stand in very long lines before it is their turn to enter the toilets. So this woman inveted this thing that looks like a funnel in cardboard for the rest you can use your imagination.

    >>and cheez - naked
O come on, not before I go to bed. I'll have nightmares

hmm... y'know i really wonder about the femininity of our female members... it'd be interesting to see... i mean, we all know we have sick bastard males here... so do the females fit the tee of the stereotypical female? and, is there a stereotype for the female _programmer_? hmm...

Well if you used Prelude as the stereotype... then all women are extremely smart and are outstanding programmers....

that's very sweet of you to say...

and if you used doubleanti as the stereotype you'd get a 404, but before seeing the second 4, you're mynd would explode...

a stereotypical female programmer - is there such a thing ... i think i can safely say that for all my years in IT I have met very few female programmers (a very sad fact of life) - those women who are in IT as well make up a minority and they are all different - some are completely computer mad, others seem to do it because its just a job, so i think there are too few to do a stereotype ... i though wish more women would get involved in IT - though all women actually in IT are smart

Happy holidays, Adrianxw - the trick to minimilist packing is to imply (never say it straight) that so much more can be brought back if there is extra space in the first place...

A spare pair of extra-cheesy socks (no reference to 'Cheez O' the North, USA) strategically placed in your own pack can sometimes act as a useful deterrent. This is a radical step and not to be lightly undertaken as you may well suffer yourself when you reach your destination. You will probably discover soaring interest from the local dog population on arrival though...

    >>so i think there are too few to do a stereotype ...though all women actually in IT are smart<<

Looks like one for the oxymoron thread

I am going to have to disagree here... I know at least three in my organization that are as dumb as dirt.
