yes if you think laterally......
the lorry is outside the building so he couldn't have stood on that.
there is no way up to where he was.
the building is in a desert. why?
don't lorries have refrigeration mostly....
ok this one is much harder.......
there is a telephone box by the side of a river. Inside the telephone box is a man slumped dead. There is blood and glass everywhere. The phone is still off the hook. How did he die?

I have 3 quiz. i will post them from the easier to the most difficult. so, here is the easier.
A man is living in a house. One day one of his neighbors
is complaining about a bad smell coming out of the man's
apartment. Also, he hasn't seen the man for a lot of days.
He calls the police.
Final scene:
The man is hunged. The rope that is round his neck is tied in
the chandelier. there is a lot of water in the floor and there
is a suicide note in his pocket. But there are no furnitures.
the question is: how the man managed to tie the rope to the
chandelier if there were no furnitures?

ehsiq:
This is another version of the same puzzle we've just done - the ice cube.
stoned_coder:
I've heard this one before as well, but let's let it run and see of anyone else gets it.
-
Right, because it was stapled to the chicken. It's not a result you can arrive at by logical thinking - you jsut gotta know the answer.
Sorry, ehsiq, that question was already posted.
s_c - what if there was a ladder inside the building that someone took away? What if he used a helicopter to fly up there?
Lotsa stuff coulda happened to the guy in the telephone booth. Someone shot him. A really loud noise came out of the telephone and blew out the windows. Nessie came out of the river and killed him. Maybe he swallowed a grenade.
Also, why do so many of these have to do with weird ways of dying? Just an observation...
-
sorry Stoned_Coder, i didn't see your quiz :(((
ok, i will give you the other one.
You have 10 boxes with coins. 9 of the boxes has golden coins
but one has fake coins. The weight of the golden coins is 5 gr.
the weight of the fake coins is 4 gr. the fake coins are just
like the golden ones. There is no way to tell the difference.
You have a balance (not sure about the name, the thing that you
put something on it and it tells the weight of the thing)
I want you to take as many coins as you like from any box, even
from all of the boxes, and put them in the balance, then i want
to know which box has the fake coins. (i want only one value from
the balance, for example it is not acceptable to put ten coins
from each of the boxes and everytime remove one coin.)
-
Also, since the building's so tall, he'd need super-human strength to lift the block of ice to a good position (we won't even start on how he got it through the door). So, it stands to reason he has other super-powers as well. Maybe he flew up there.
-
Ehsiq - is there a limit on the number of weighings?
If not:
5 and 5 <---- light one has fake coin.
2 and 2 from the light group
If they're equal, the other coin is it. Otherwise, weigh the last two coins against each other and the light one is fake.
-
Govtcheez
yes there is, i told you, you must take ONLY ONE VALUE FROM THE BALANCE...you will put something on and with only one result you will tell me...
-
sorry, i mean that there is a limit.
-
Whoops, my mistake - lemme keep thinkin' about it.
-
Take one coin from the first box, 2 from the 2nd, 3 from the third, etc.
Then weigh them.
If they were all genuine then you'd get 275g, but you'll get a number less equal to the what box the fake coins came from.
-
robS yeap...that is correct.
so, here comes the most difficult. the thing is that because of my bad english you may not understand what i am trying to say, so, if there is something you do not understand i'll explain. here we go
A father (not rick) has 5 children. He is going to die soon so
he decides to give his money to his children. But he is going to
do it with an..odd way.
Here it is:
The bigger child is going to tell to the others a way to split the
money. The others will vote (he is not going to vote).
if the result is : equal or most of his brothers agree with this
way of spliting the money then the money will be given as he said.
if the result is : most of his brothers disagree with this way
then he is out of the "game", he is not taking any money and it is
like he does not exists.
if this happens then it is the turn of the second older brother to
tell one way of spliting the money.
the same thing with voting. and goes on.
so, i want you to find me what MUST be the proposal of the older
brother so that this is going to be the way of spliting the money.
-
well govtcheez the actual answer to that is that he built a flight of steps from manageable sized ice-cubes lol
-
:p s_c
Why didn't he just carve the ice into a ladder? Ooo, here's a better one - why didn't he just freeze to death in the lorry?
-
ok i'll give you two more clues for my last puzzle.
1) outside the phone box is some fishing rods.
2) the phone box has 2 symettrical holes in the glass one on each side of the phone.
that should help you figure it out!
