If you switch all on how do you know which one is the right one? You haven't answer the question, I'm afraid.

Perhaps I didn't phrase it properly earlier. I resume the options.

    - The three switches start in the off position.

    - You cannot see if the lamp is on or off unless you walk into the room.

    - You are allowed to walk into the room only once.

    - You can switch on/off the switches as many times as you like.

    - You have to find what switch is the right one.

    Yep time was the answer

    How about this one:

A box without hinges, key, or lid,
Yet golden treasure inside is hid.

Well, there's the blatantly sexual answer that would prolly just get people mad at me, so we won't go there

    How about the mind?

Yep that's right - egg is the answer.

"Riddles in the Dark" Chapter 5 from the Hobbit was the source of my posted riddles. Always good fun to read.

Here's an original (pretty crap but)

    Eternal watcher, fades into sand,
Built by a people, of a once great land.
Sleek and powerful is my form,
My missing feature is makes me forlorn.

Oh yeah - zen, I guess that would work, but it's not the answer I was looking for... Time should start as soon as one of the hourglasses is flipped.
