    Ken:
    >The religion was last seen evolving into an autonomous intelligence that has since declared itself independent and is engaged in border disputes with Freedonia that may well escalate into a full-blown war.

Curious... Now what was the operating system this autonomous intelligence chose to use? Microsoft or Linux?

::going to hide under my desk::

Now with this dilation of time, it could be hundreds of (our) years before I am actually murdered right?

Hey Rick, I hopw FD got some kind of insurance that will pay for my therapy after so many non-FD-hours!!!!!!!!

It's not something you can play with

BTW, I wanted to get into FD to post a magazine article for itld about dual processors motherboards. So here it is:

(the file was too big, so I just cut it into two pieces, here it's the first bit):

I heard that flashdaddee suddenly got 50,000 hits within 10 seconds and it crashed the server. I guess PC Magazine hit the stands in a big way.

Ok. It's 3:25 pm and I'm finally starting to upload stuff to the
new site. There are no forums yet and probably won't be until tomorrow or maybe even later, as it's the middle of the week
and Fordy is busy with his job. Plus, there may be unforseen problems--who knows?

Anyway, the nameservers have been transferred but will
not take effect for a couple of days I suppose, so if you
want to visit the site, do not type in flashdaddee.com yet.
The ip address is 64.91.238.78. That will bring up the page
but not much more. I have to go out in a couple of hours so it
most probably will be late tonight be fore the entire site is back
on line. As a safety precaution, I am not uploading the cinema
stuff. I'm going to pare the site down to just the essentials,
which I consider to be the library and tutorials at this point.

We have 20 fewer gigs of tranfer to play around with and I don't want a repeat of the brownouts we had at featureprice, so I'm
going to start small and go from there.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding. You guys are really great.

Thanks again to cprog for giving us a place to communicate.

    rick

The forums will be up very soon.....

I will send a confirming email to all registered members as soon as we are up and running like before.

    Thanks for your patience....

BTW.....we now have a different server that believes in the concept of "Backups"....they actually upgraded the hardware on our server without bothering to take a backup, or even notify us of the situation so we could make sure precausions were made! All we knew was that the server stopped, rick asked what was going on, they said they were working on the server and then bang...."hard-drive failure!??!?!?". Luckily, the last backup was only a week old....so we have lost very little........

They havent even managed to give rick the proper passwords to restore the site yet......

Is it featureprice that been giving you all this hazzle? I have a skeleton site hosted by them but if they are messed up I think I rather move it to somewhere else before I actually will fill it with cool things.
