    I hate mary-kate and ashley.
    btw, I use Borland Turbo C++ 3.1 for dos and MSVC++ for windows. And another thing, it seems the majority use MSVC++ when the majority usually complain about how bad microsoft is.
    I bet they're even using IE, too!

    > the majority usually complain about how bad microsoft is.

    The "majority" don't... Usually just a couple people who read slashbot too much... Besides, I'd wager that most of those people use Windows AND MSVS...

    What will people say if they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?
    What will people do if they find that it's true?
    I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak, there is no disguising the truth!

    Yeah, but for all your preaching agaisnt MS, you still use Windows, no-one... Never fear, eventually you'll use CheezOS

    > do NOT do this, although it has a lot of good articles slashdot is terribly biased toward *nix and other related issues

    That's true... They sure are.... Any pro-MS posts are immediately modded into the gutter.

    ok...

    first of all...i'm not even getting into the MSFT vs. *nix war...

    that's one debate that just gives me headaches and is purely pointless...

    u can like 'em or hate 'em, ur still forced to deal w/ them.

    as for compilers...

    i have heard of DevC++ before...but for windows i use a combination

    DJGPP (basically a gcc clone) with gvim as my editor.

    or VS until i mange to get a hang gdb.

    or *nix i use vim & gcc
    curiousity killed the cat, but it
    makes for one hell of a programmer.

    VC++

    MS VC++ for Window
    Borland 5 free command-line compiler for DOS

    as far as "most" using MSVS, almost 75 percent (or more) of the studios that contribute to post-mordems in Game Developer mag. list MSVS/MSVC++. of course, that only represents the game dev. community....

    inexperienced

    howdy,
    i am an inexperienced user, based on 6-8 months of teach myself C++ my votes got to.

    gcc and a shamless plug for emacs on the linux side.
    and
    Borland builder 5 for windoze and ide stuff
