    No, it would be dumb.

To enter your password you'd have to pet it a sequence of times, and it doesn't have any holes for the network cable.

    Open Source

    howdy,
the right direction is any direction leading away from the TV set.
as a suggestion i know of a couple of open source OS's being developed at the moment. maybe getting involved with one of them would help get the kidguru moving.

btw. its nice to see this thread starting to get more positive.

    Hmmm...

    See Below:

Kidguru, I say go for it!!!

You have stood up to countless barrages of criticism and contempt for your idea. Your fervor would be a great asset to any dev team - after all the older ones got burnt out on the project, you'd still be cooking with gas.

Just remember whenever someone has a spark or a fire within them to do something, there are always people there to throw water on it.

Learn all you can and if we can help you let us know.

Why don't you use assembler? If you use C, (or C++, C#, OR Java), your OS is going to rwquire Windows anyway. With Assembler, you won't even need DOS. But I'd check with the parents as well. You start messing around with the system registers, and stuff, you could REALLY damage the motherboard. And if, as you say, you know a "little algebra", you're going to have to learn more. You're going to need at least the first year of calculus if you're going to make an OS. Assembler requires you to keep track of the decimal point your self and mask it.

And stop bragging about your age. No one likes it, no one cares, and a lot of programmers started before then.
