Roll on 18 wheels roll on

I was out driving the rig today when I looked over and noticed the young gal in the car next to me was... engaging in self fulfillment. So I waved to her, and she waved back, and proceeded to stay right beside me for 5 lights while continuing...

Oh yeah, i think being a trucker is going to be awesome

Make sure you don't cause an accident.

I always used to make truckers blow their horn on the highway, and was met with moderate success.

If you knew the level of training truckers go through, you would understand why 78% of all accidents involving a truck are the fault of the non-truck driver. It's amazing the stupid crap that 4-wheeler (what we call civilian cars/trucks) drivers do. Apparently they can't read a sign painted on the back of a truck in 2 foot letters that says 'Student Driver' so they pull in front of a vehicle literally so close you cant see the top of their car over the hood. 80,000 lbs will just roll over the top of a car like it wasnt even there, and your family won't get any insurance because there are 5 witnesses in the truck that will testify you did some ignorant ......... We saw it happen the other day, an SUV ran a red light right in front of a rig, it took the DOT 2 hours to cut the woman's remains from the wreck. It completely obliterated the SUV. Her family could also get the bill for whatever her insurance doesnt cover in replacing the truck.

I gotta ask... Why is a Senior Engineer, and Mensa, taking up truck driving? Are there no other, higher paying, less mundane, jobs available for someone of your apparent skill?

Hey silly -- it will still say "Senior Engineer" on his cap, and the truck can be called ="M E N S A"=.

Yes but "Senior Engineer" in what? . You could call yourself a Senior Engineer of truck repairs.

    Though I doubt he is

He is a Senior Engineer, life member of Mensa, and a programmer.
Can you honestly expect him not to be completely insane?

The thing to be is probably: Senior Engineer of Mensa.

That doesn't mean quite what you intended.

So what though. You could say that about anything really... but doing what you want as long as it doesn't involve deliberately ........ing someone over is called freedom.

I need experience driving a truck if I am going to develop an AI that can drive one. It will also come in handy for road testing it. And why shouldnt I get paid while gaining said experience, especially since I will need experience the the real world situations the AI will encounter, beyond what could realistically be gained by simply interviewing a trucker. It's easier to take a programmer and teach them to be a trucker than to take a trucker and teach then to be a programmer, not that truckers are less intelligent, just that the training to be a programmer takes longer.
