    Best Journals

    I'm looking for a few really good online journals to read for papers on computer architecture.

    I am a member of ACM and IEEE-Computer Society, so I know about those resources, but I was wondering if you guys know of any other reputable journals that publish high quality papers.

    A good starting point for further research in a given subject are the homepages of the guys working in that area. They may contain "technical reports" (i.e. papers that haven't been accepted or haven't been published at all), a PhD thesis or even books.

    ACM and IEEE tend to be top journals / conferences in most fields of CS. It really depends on the field though (I'm not familiar with computer architecture enough to make any recommendations).

    I should point out that in CS, conference proceedings are often the most prestigious publication venues, with extended versions of good conference papers, or even good papers not "exciting" enough to get accepted to a conference, being published in journals. I know many fields don't work this way (physics too?) so you may want to consider searching the proceedings of top conferences as well as journals.

    The two most important publications for specifically for C and C++ were probably Dr. Dobb's and the C/C++ Users Journal. As of March 2006, they have merged.

    Hah, that's funny because in physics and (some fields of) engineering conference papers are those that are not ready to be published. I'll definitely look into conference proceedings deeper and hopefully find some conferences to attend.

    Yeah, it varies quite a bit from field to field. I know in psychology, conferences are generally just for posters and don't even have proceedings.
