Guess what I'm going to say?
If a tree falls in the forest, and no one is around to see it, do the other trees make fun of it?
Mandrake, if you're a newbie... Red Hat if you want to dive in head first... either is ok, Mandrake is a little more nice. Neither will hold your hand so strap yourself in.
I am newbie, but if i choose mandrake, would i learn less about Linux? I mean, would mandrake has less commands or hide some of the difficulties and complexity that will in fact help if they aren't hidden...

Mandrake will save you headaches. It's still a true linux distro and all.
any OTHER distros for linux-beginners?
i went to mandrake home page, there is this Linux for i586. What is i586, i guess i have to download that but i want to know what it is.

it means it's setup for an intel based 586 processor (not meaning Intel, the chip maker... it means the x86 design) ... 586 is equivalent to anything above ... I think the origional pentium level... but yes, that's the one you want...

I could be wrong on some of that, but that's what I've read/been told

Download ISO's so you can burn them.
What will people say if they hear that I'm a Jesus freak?
What will people do if they find that it's true?
I don't really care if they label me a Jesus freak, there is no disguising the truth!

I hear Caldera OpenLinux is good for nix newbies.
Thats fine. I already installed mandrake linux, first i had difficulties setting up internet connection, but it's solved now. I guess i will play around wif it and then ask some more questions....
