    > But the ladies are a big factor.
    Didn't work for me when I started Uni. There is one girl in my degree, and 3 in CS (compared with ~100 guys). Not exactly what I'd call "ladies" either

    Don't get a CS lady silly. You use your cunning to get someone into something completely non-related.

    If you want to get the ladies, take nursing or fashion design (wait, on second thought, that one might help you get the guys).

    Nurses can't seem to resist programmers. Or thus has been my experience. That or I have a thing for nurses. I am undecided. Another good reason to take up programming is because its a tool in which one can use to accomplish many tasks. Such as programming robotic logic, or home automation.

    I have it on good authority that this is how to use programming to attract a lady:

    Program the microwave to display "How was your day?" when the lady uses it to cook your dinner.
    OS: Linux Mint 13(Maya) LTS 64 bit.

    Or even better, go into Robotic Engineering and build the lady of your dreams.

    No programming language is perfect. There is not even a single best language; there are only languages well suited or perhaps poorly suited for particular purposes.

    I started programming in high school and ever since I wear my "nerd programming alert" badge/button with pride. I hope all of you have one too, I even got all the collectors items (including the ultimate nerdy cap).

    Also because I make a partial living with it (untill I get my degree and step into the wonderfull world of industry and socially disabled friends who also have these nerdy caps).

    And yes definitely the women, as there are 2.5 / 100 in my class (that half is a girl that looks like a man, the other two pose as girls but they have men like brain I think).

    When I was in school there seemed to be a good number of women in CS. From what I've heard that number has gotten worse in the past few years.

    My wife used to write massively parallel code for Intel. That is, after she finished implementing an AI spam blocking algorithm which held title of "Best in world" for a period of time.

    Then we had our child. Now she sits at home and knits for money. Go figure?
    Code:
    //try
    //{
    	if (a) do { f( b); } while(1);
    	else   do { f(!b); } while(1);
    //}

    Is there something wrong with the poll percentages?
    I'm no math genius, but I'm pretty sure they should add up to 100% shouldn't they?

    Not when multiple choices are allowed - I for example choose 1 and 2, so obviously - which is 2 "votes".
