I had never found you to be particularly guilty of such things. I know I am totally guilty of tangents as-are Elysia, laserlight, CornedBee, Mk27, Matus and Thantos. But none of us like totally start chit-chatting about our bowling scores or anything for the most part.

I think the board is fine as is. But it's the admin who decides what is ok and what is not. I really don't think the problem mentioned in this post is a problem at all. There are far bigger problems such as homework posts and vague questions that merit more attention than this.
And by mentioning those I probably inadvertently (sp?) just threw this thread into the weeds.

You just registered and posted 50 times today (in about 3 hours), are you saying that even though you just joined you've already started contributing to the forum's "biggest problem"?

Tangents are fine and in fact they are a good thing as long as the original question has been sufficiently addressed or when the tangent is specifically applicable to the OP's problem. I think many of the people you named follow that rule.

I'm quite convinced that MattW is not a brand new member - let's just say that style and knowledge of what goes on around this board indicates a certain level of familiarity.

After a bit of board searching:

I would say that matsp is correct.

Perhaps that explains the seemingly random reference to banning. It seems this thread is a referendum on whether a specific ban was justified.

In other words an anonymous way to whine about a ban.

Normally I wouldn't lock this but as it was started by a banned user I'm locking it.
