Its great to have people willing to help but this board is meant for everybody to gain from. If people email/PM you instead of posting you take away the basic principle for these boards, a place where everybody can learn from eachother.

As I said its great to have people willing to help and the best way you can help is by answering posts.

Two points about an open forum
    1. Everyone learns something (whereas you only help one person).
    2. Any mistakes can be corrected (who would detect any mistakes you make - not the noob you posted the answer to).

If you really want to help, then answer some questions here. And if your answers are wrong, then expect them to be corrected and to learn something in the process.
If you dance barefoot on the broken glass of undefined behaviour, you've got to expect the occasional cut.
If at first you don't succeed, try writing your phone number on the exam paper.

Also, unless you are one of those few people that can stay awake for almost 24/7, you will probably not be available to answer questions at all times. There are usually someone on board here that can answer questions at all hours of the day, since it's a very international forum.

By asking people to PM you, you are basically saying "I'll answer your question better, and before the rest of the forum" - which I doubt you are actually able to do.

Compilers can produce warnings - make the compiler programmers happy: Use them!
Please don't PM me for help - and no, I don't do help over instant messengers.

Why would we encourage private help on a public forum?

"Ask an expert" on the main page:
    http://www.cprogramming.com/expert.html

It's removed "for the time being."
Dunno what the point of it is, if it's coming back or if it should be removed...

    Dishing out my "view".

I have a hard time reading your posts because of the poor English. I don't think PM'ing would be a good idea for this and many other reasons .

I think people are just politely pointing out that it would be better for you not to offer such help through PM and instead encourage people to post on the forum, much to everyone's benefit.
