    Free Firewall

Does anybody have any suggestions for a GOOD free firewall? I need better security on my computer, but I don't want to pay too much.

Did you hear the news on BlackIce? I guess BI allows for full control of a person's computer using XP (and some other OS) if you do not have the patch that the company just released. The news came out on CNN yesterday. That sucks for the Black Ice People.

Sure does... Between that and the stuff I read at grc.com, I'm pretty damn glad I didn't shell out the cash for it (or even go through the trouble of pirating it)

Gnu, have you considered using ipchains (or whatever the 2.4 kernel version of it is)? It allows you to build a very tight packet filter firewall. If you go that route, I suggest the book "Linux Firewalls" (Ziegler), published by New Riders.

Sorry, forgot to mention, I'm running Windows 2000...I still have yet to find out how to network a Linux machine and a Windows machine through a parallel to parallel port connection.

ZA is a piece of ****... (for several reason, mainly because you can scan right thru it )

tiny personnal firewall is very nice... but nothing replaces a nice little 486 openbsd firewall
