    Photosynth and Silverlight

    Photosynth

Microsoft just released this, and I think it is incredibly cool stuff. It is reminiscent of Make3D and DeepZoom.

In fact, although you have to download a separate plug-in to actually run Photosynth, by the looks of it I am fairly sure that they used Silverlight on the back-end with DeepZoom.

Anyways, what do you guys think?

I think this is really cool technology, and more specifically I think Silverlight 2 is pretty awesome. It is a lot more programmer-friendly than Flash is (C# vs. ActionScript), and is really powerful. I can't wait until the release version comes out.

But yeah...if they aren't using Silverlight on the back-end of that Photosynth thing, I would be very surprised.

Silverlight is getting annoying for me too. And there is another popup every other time asking me to fill out some customer satisfaction survey. Not a good way to get good responses for a survey.

I press "Install Photosynth" and get an 404 popup... ( address is: http://www.photosynth.com/undefined )

And now even the site won't load anymore because it redirects to "http://www.default.aspx/" which, of course, does not exist.

I thought the image quality was pretty low and the moving though the images jerky. I wasn't that impressed.
