    Free svn

    I started a simple openGL project with a group of other game developers who are new to 3d programming. I have a hosting account but it has a limited bandwidth/space.

    I was wondering if there were any sites out there which offered a free svn system for people to use?

    If your project is an open source project, there are a number of project hosting services out there, e.g., SourceForge, Google Code and Launchpad (which uses Bazaar instead of Subversion).

    GNU Savannah offers SVN, CVS, Mercurial and Git, but it has somewhat stricter requirements than other hosting services. There's also NonGNU Savannah, but I think that's just an alternative URL for the same service.

    If you are reasonably proficient with network administration, and your ISP allows it, there's always the option of running a server yourself.

    SourceForge and google code are quite popular with subversion crowds. Personally, I *much* prefer distributed version control (a la Git/Mercurial) but if SVN is what you're into I would say SF or googlecode to be adequate (they also come with other services such as bug trackers and wikis, etc..)
