I hope you enjoy your meal

... while I'm off to my vacations. This year in Japan.

We are only staying 4 days in Tokyo. The next two weeks will be spent roaming around the rural areas and important landmarks while getting to know the country a little better. The last week will be spent in Kyoto.

Wife and daughter are overly excited, as I am in fact. Japan is one of the few Asian countries I was yet to visit and one with an extraordinary culture. There's so much to see, so many places to visit, that we are planning a followup for next year instead of choosing another country.

The only trouble this year is that we are going on a rather tight budget which will render shopping to a minimum. But I'm still planning to come home with some super-charged-turbo-engined camera and a few trinkets to remember by. Those cool stuff like swords, tea sets and other cultural tokens will have to wait for next year.

Have fun everyone. I'm pretty sure I will have too. Flight is tomorrow night.

I'm very envious. Japan is in my top 3 "places to visit when I can".

Unfortunately, I wont have a chance to do so for a while

Cool, I'm happy for you! Enjoy it mate. Friend of mine left for Japan on Monday. She's staying for three weeks! I asked her to write me since she'll be gone for a month, and asked her to bring back some yen for my coin collection. It'll be interesting to hear from her what she's been up to and her impression of the culture as well.

I should save all this material for a report, I suppose.

I'd go myself but I don't know when that would be. I'm not sure leaving the country on my own is a good idea. Hehe.

Enjoy the holiday. Like Fordy, I would like to visit Japan some day - although I would probably rather do a visit to the South American rainforest FIRST [if nothing else because it's more likely to be completely destroyed before I can afford a second trip halfway around the globe].
