you think it'd be possible to go online (like, from a notebook) on a cell phone?

it's probably possible, but the connection would be horrible. doubt you could get 10k on it.
I have some experience with CDPD, and (as of 1998) 19.2kb was the rate for cellular communications.

Everything is possible if you have the money to keep it running.
I know it is possible here. I also know that here cell phone providers don't offer flarates. You have to pay per minute. And it's not cheap.

She was so Blonde, she spent 20 minutes looking at the orange juice can because it said "Concentrate."
When in doubt, read the FAQ.
Then ask a smart question.
It is possible here as well, in fact, TeleDanmark have an advert on the television with a guy trying to impress another guy by calling up http://www.dmi.dk/ on his laptop whilst sitting in an airport departure lounge. The other guy looks out of the window and says "Rain".

Not necessarily. I used to have a 56k modem but it would only hit 28.8k at tops.
That is not because of your modem... that is because of your connection/distance from your ISP...Originally posted by golfinguy4

The Nokia Card Phone supports fast data transmission in High Speed Circuit Switched Data networks - up to 43.2 kb/s, without data compression. That's even four times faster than in today's 9.6 kb/s GSM networks.
At normal speed, the Nokia Card Phone supports 14.4 kb/s. When you are sending and receiving e-mail, you can shift up to double speed. In this case the Nokia Card Phone uses two time slots in and two out, doubling the speed to 28.8 kb/s.
And for downloading Web pages the Nokia Card Phone triples the speed to 43.2 kb/s. So you can get the same sort of speed with your notebook PC as you get with a land-line modem.
