    Do you smoke?

This is a question that hasn't been posed in a little over 4 years, now... so I guess I'd like an update from the newer users.

This question is regarding tobacco cigarettes, cigars, or pipe only. Any other substance, legal or illegal, is not relevant.

By the way, the poll is public. Please do not answer if you happened to be self-conscious about your habits.

Since I was 17, I reckon. Around 20 cigarettes every 1.5 days. Not planning to quit and not listening.

Never smoked, never intend do, not feeling drawn to smoking if any kind of way. Smoking is the work of the abyss.

Darn! That's good news. So glad is not my fault after all.

But then again, if you fall into the abyss, you can never escape
Or rather, it is extremely difficult, so be careful not to fall in in the first place!
They all plead their innocence in one way or another, but the fact is that it's one's fault for falling into it in the first place

Rest assured. If there is an abyss, I'm already booked. And smoking is just a forgotten item on a long list of sins. I enjoy my sins, I indulge my sins and the devil is my friend.

I smoke. Been trying to stop for the last 3 year; dosent seem to be happening. Tobacco is like the most pointless drug in the world; all it does is cause anxiety. When I dont smoke the stress turns to gluttony and I might end up getting fat. Still cant figure out what I'd prefer: a short life as a wheezing tar stained smoker or a long life as an agro lardass.

Its just a natural result of dependency. If you follow some controlled quitting plan (preferably with the help of your doctor), the effects will go away once you go past the withdrawal phase.

Personally I'm a glutton no matter. My symptoms are instead mood swings and headaches. All these things can be fought if one wants to quit. It's the "want" bit that is the hardest. In other words the hardest part about quitting smoking is before you actual quit.

But being already on the stage you are, I'd suggest talk to your doctor. He or she can help you more than you can hope from measly and offensive "awareness campaigns" or the abject social prejudice that comes with them.

Personally I don't want to quit. I honestly don't. I enjoy smoking. It's just that. Everytime I see an "awareness campaign" I vomit. I know its bad for my health thank you. But so is fighting for my country. I know my breath may sometimes smell like an ashtray, but you don't need bad breath to say something that will make someone suffer. I know others may be affected by my smoke, but not only I make an effort to not molest anyone, but people actions have throughout history carried more death and suffering than smoke.

There was only one campaign I respected. It didn't treat smokers like retarded, social monsters or homicidal suicides. It simply asked smokers to please stop smoking in closed public places because it becomes an issue of public health. This was before the law was passed over here that made it illegal to smoke in closed public spaces. However it touched the one and only issue about smoking that is worth listening to. All the other crap about my health, how I may smell or how my bad my skin may look like is just the product of retarded (precisely), self-righteous and prejudiced individuals.

Nasty habit. I tried it one summer when I was 10 years old because I thought it was cool.

I was doing real well about not smoking during the year, but now that I'm working there's the incredible urge to divulge in the habit. I'm working offshore on a supply vessel that services drill units in the Gulf, and someone on another ship got busted for smoking within 500 meters of the same rig. So, that just means (being the responsible people that we are) that we have to hide and smoke. If there's a catastrophic fire I think that might just be an introduction to the abyss
I'm not immature, I'm refined in the opposite direction.

Might your long list also include wearing women's under garments?

Regarding the topic, I can't get the old joke out of my head.
    "Do you smoke after sex?"
    "I don't know, I never checked."

    Hooked from the First Cigarette
New findings reveal that cigarette addiction can arise astonishingly fast. But the research could lead to therapies that make quitting easier
It's a pay to view article, but it's a recent issue so try a library.

    But you voted no?

Does that mean you were just pretending to be cool?

Never smoked, mainly because (sorry to all the people who voted yes) I hate people smoking. I would sooner get drunk while falling off a cliff than smoke - and I don't intend to do either of those things. Thankfully the whispering voices in my head have not considered smoking, I think they are more bent on destruction.
